On Friday I had my latest appointment with the physiotherapist. He did a fair bit of manipulation of my poor ankle, which I'm still feeling the after-effects of now, but he's pleased with my progress and agreed to exchange my crutches for a walking stick :) Bye bye crutches!! After 3 1/2 months I wasn't sorry to hand them back ;)
I had to personalise it with washi tape, of course...
In practice, I only even need the stick if I'm going down steps with no handrail, or if conditions are particularly icy (like, um, the last few days have been!) Yes, that is progress indeed :)
Now, if only the aching would stop, and I could recover the full range of motion in my ankle, and I could drive again..... But I'm doing my best to be patient and focus on how far I've come and not how far I still have to go!

So glad ur on the road to recovery! :) It seems like u've been suffering 4 ages, gr8 stick btw ;)
It's a step in the right direction and I love the personalisation ;) xx
It must be great to see that kind of progress. 3 1/2 months on crutches is a LONG time. Looks like you've decorated the walking stick with Washi! Cute.
Great progress and personalisation! After I broke a bone in my foot, I found that a hot wheat bag helped both with the pain and the swelling. I also used to get The Brainy One to massage it for me ~ worked a treat!
You have done so well Mel, what a horrid time you have had. Love the washi stick, awesome idea :)
Take it slowly on the ice *waggles finger*
It's good progress,Mel....the rest will come.
It's been a long road to recovery for you Mel. Hang in there x
Love your washi'd stick. Slow & steady wins the race. How are you getting to the retreat if you can't drive? Could you make it to Crewe and come the rest of the way with me?
What a great way to use washi tape!! Glad to hear there is continued improvement.
Oh Mel, at least this is heading in the right direction! Keep positive and look after yourself.
Brilliant, keep looking forward you're doing fine
love the personalisation
glad you are getting better and I am most impressed with your range of Washi Tapes
Love the washi tape! Glad you're on th eroad to recovery
he he! I love that you have covered the stick in wash! Hooray for saying goodbye to the crutches!
Glad to hear your making progress, love the washi'd stick! Keeping my fingers crossed you get full movement soon!
excellent progress. Remember when going up and down stairs that the good go to heaven the bad go to h*ll so you lead with the good foot going up and the bad foot going down.
Oh and you hold the stick in the hand opposite the bad foot, so if it is your right foot that is hurt you put the stick in your left hand. You already know this from the therapist but being OCD I have to tell, sorry.
so glad to hear you are improving Mel, It can't have been easy for you x
Wow, 3 1/2 months is a long time..I'm so pleased to hear of your progress. Onwards and upwards!
Progress is always good! Love the washi tape - I could send you enough different types to cover the rest of that stick!
I'm sure it seems forever but it is progress. Of course you had to personalize the stick and it looks glorious!
Yeah! So glad to hear the crutches are gone. Love what you did with the walking stick. The driving will come, don't rush it. Nice and slow.
I'm very impressed with your patience Mel...keep up the good work..loving the Washi !

Goodness me I can't believe it's been so long Mel. Yes you have been patient. Absolutely LOVE the Washi on the walking stick.
Congratulations on progressing to the walking stick! love how you have personalized it too =-)
Oh my goodness, Mel. This has really been a long process for you, hasn't it? Here's hoping you are well mended soon. (I do love your washi tape cane!)
Yay to getting rid of the crutches, love the washi tape on the walking stick. Stay safe in the ice :)
Glad to see you back! Washi tape is so much more refined than the duct tape which Clara used.

Ooooh pretty tape on the walking stick :) Yeah for graduating to that from the crutches - carrying cups of tea/coffee is now possible again. Glad things are improving - thought of you as I slipped around on the ice and snow this last week.
I love your personalised walking stick!! So you!! Great news that you don't need it all the time but don't try & rush it...especially with the icy conditions!! Progress always seems to take so long but when you're all recovered & look back, it won't seem so long after all...hang in there!! {{hugs}} :D
It sounds a long recovery and lots of patience needed. I love the way you decorated your walking stick with Washi tape! Good luck with the continued progress..
Congrats on losing the crutches!! Hopefully you won't be on the walking stick for as long.
I'm glad you were able to hand the crutches back. And oh-wow, I love the washi tape on your walking stick - perfect! x
Now there's style for you! A scrapbooker to the core :). Glad you're gaining more freedom!
