When did you last check your blog stats?

I like to have a quick look at my 'stats' every now and then - especially the bit that tells me which search terms have led people to my blog, that's always entertaining :) In the last month, readers have found me here using these keywords:
  • 1 malteser I'm guessing this has something to do with the Malteser cake I make regularly?
  • melsh Fair enough! :)
  • wordles of nt prayers Plenty of Wordles on my blog, but I've never made one of a prayer, NT or otherwise. Interesting idea, though!
  • "i miss him" Well, OK, that fits in with one of my art journal pages for Learn Something New Every Day this year
  • counterfeit smash books Not sure about this one! I've never done the Counterfeit Kits; neither have I ever had a Smash Book!
  • decorated frames This probably leads people to a tutorial of mine from 3 years ago...
  • doing a mirror with paper frames ...and this to the same tutorial as above!
  • griffith observatory weight on mars Ah yes, of course, I did write a post about our visit to the Griffith Observatory and shared photos of what my weight would be on each planet
  • life isn't always beautiful This would link to a layout I shared back in 2010 - the layout and post both had this title
  • looking for reasons to be offended ???!!! Absolutely no idea!!!
A couple of quick updates:

My foot and ankle are improving every day; thank you all for your continued sympathetic and supportive messages :) I'd hoped to be back at work today but I'd underestimated how debilitating a sprain can be - and getting around crowded classrooms, supervising lively children, and generally doing a teaching job to the best of my ability, is not really possible when I'm still needing crutches on hand, can't stand for long without feeling rather uncomfortable, and my foot is too swollen and bruised to put a shoe onto it :( I'm disappointed, but I'm being sensible. No point rushing back when I can't do my job properly and when it might risk causing worse damage!

And the photos from yesterday's post?

Yes, I was indeed Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz :) And well done to those of you who figured out that The Boy was Twoflower from Terry Pratchett's Discworld series! I'm glad some of you recognised The Luggage lol - the trouble that gave us to put together!!

Oh Mel, I go away for a couple of weeks and you go and sprain your ankle! Goodness, that is not good at all - sounds like you are making a slow recovery though which is good to hear.

Your search keywords will only take on the more bizarre now as you can add in Dorothy!

Take it easy.

An interesting set of statistics, Mel. I hadn't appreciated what might turn up with a search word!
Don't rush back to work. I speak from experience. Boring as it is, rest is the only cure, and plenty of blogging too helps!

So sorry to hear about your ankle, Mel.
Hope you still managed to click your heels three times and say "There's no place like home!". You made a fine Dorothy!
xx

Interesting statistics...& I'm still in the dark as to who Twoflowers is & why he would need luggage!! Heathen that I am...never read a Terry Pratchett book, but did enjoy that Christmas adaptation of one of his books....can't even remember what it was called now....as I said...Heathen!!

I never think to look at my blog stats. I wonder if I can even get this kind of info from Typepad. My rule of thumb for returning to the classroom after an illness or an injury is you must be up all day at home, doing chores and tasks as usual before you can think about trying to deal with kids in a classroom. I often returned too soon, and usually paid for it with a relapse of some kind.

I don't think I've ever looked at my blog stats ...
You make a fine Dorothy ... did you know that V&A is hosting an Exhibition of Hollywood costumes and have Dorothy's shoes in their collection (on loan from the US)? It opens on the 27th and runs 'til January, which might suit your timetable ...

"looking for reasons to be offended" eh? Weird....

It's fun to find out what searches bring visitors to our blogs but, like you, I am often quite puzzled by them!

Take care of that ankle - you really do not want an ongoing injury, especially as you will spend so much of your working day standing, walking around, moving... Anyway, it would never do to be sued for tripping up someone's little angel with one of your crutches!

I like the photo of your fancy dress costumes - very good! I love the Pratchett idea - must go and see yesterday's post (I'm v. behind, again) and then show it to our Boy, who has just finished "Going Postal" (and told me all about The Luggage)!

I take a peek at the stats page but I just can't make sense of them or what they mean! I did have a laugh over the category of "reasons to be offended" because your blog is not offensive in any way, but sadly there are a few strange folks who are looking for reasons to be offended...good thing they won't find a reason here at your blog!! ;)

Glad to learn that you are doing better with your sprain injury and that you are staying home until it's well enough to go back to work - very sensible to keep off the bad ankle in a busy schoolroom!! =-)

Some of those are definitely confusing - offensive?? Not! I do look at mine sometimes but usually the stories the things that get the most attention or where people are from. I'll havuthe to check what searches brought people.
You. Can get this info om typepad blogs too. I think its google analytics and the link is in the bottom right of the main page for the blog.

Ooooh Ruth's comment about the V&A means I'm adding that to my list of things to do! Interesting list of search words. I've never looked at my stats.

Glad it isn't just me saying rest is best. i like Karen's comment about not until you can do a day at home without pain should you go back to work. The commute is tiring enough.

Love the boy's costume even more now that I know what it is - so clever!
Mario Gomez (I did one post about him) leads to lots of visits. And a travel journal I did was pinned to pinterest and picked up by a lot of other people.

LOL at the need to come and be offended here ... my weirdest one was about Helen Hunt wearing overalls!
