Storytelling Sunday - Let's Dress Up!

"What a shame," I thought to myself. "Doesn't look like I'll have time to take part in Sian's Storytelling Sunday this month, and I've missed so many of them now!"

"Hah!" cried the universe. "Maybe a sprained ankle will slow you down a bit?"

*****

"Oh dear," I thought to myself. "Now I actually have time to tell a story, I can't think of anything to tell!"

"How about going with my October-ish plan?" suggested Sian. "Let's Dress Up!"

*****

"OK," I thought to myself. "Except that I can't remember the last time I dressed up! Wonder if I've got any photos of the kids in fancy dress? I'll take a look through the photo archives....."

"Ooh look!" prompted my memory. "Do you remember The Boy's leaving party at the end of Year 6? He dressed up for that, didn't he?"

*****

He certainly did - but can you tell who he's dressed up as? :)

And I'd completely forgotten that I was one of the parents who was brave enough to dress up, too! Can you tell who I'm being?! (The shoes are a clue - imagine them a brighter shade of red!)

(Gosh, it's interesting to see how much taller I am than The Boy here, even allowing for the heels - he's very nearly overtaken me in height now, just over a year later!)

What super photos! and the universe has helped you out nicely. :) I'm guessing wildly here, but does it have anything to do with the Wizard of Oz?

Think I'd go for Wizard of Oz as well.

Me too. x Is the boy that crocodile hunter (no longer with us) from Oz? I can't remember his name. Any which way its a great story and I love the way it came 'from nothing' x

I love your Dorothy, but I'm afraid I don't get the Boy's costume.
Hope your ankle's feeling less painful

See - that's what I'm figuring this bug is doing, getting me caught up on all the OTHER things I'd not got around to.

You must be Dorothy with the blue gingham, whilst the crocodile teeth and costume suggest Crocodile Dundee or Steve Irwin - we have one nephew who adored him.

I've just seen the legs on the side of the brown with teeth accessory... and so am changing my mind - the tourist and luggage?

I should know, but I can't remember. Since you've included Terry Pratchett in the labels, is it something to do with his books? I don't know them well enough to hazard a guess.

The photo does show how much he's grown. Of course, he overtook me a long time ago!

That's the luggage!!! oh excellent. It's twenty years since I first read Pratchett, was his name two flowers? Something like that wasn't it

I'm glad you found time to share your story, shame you had to hurt your ankle to do it! Great photos :)

I love your Dorothy and my son tells me that The Boy is Two Flowers with Luggage. I'm afraid I didn't have a clue!

Yes, I would have guessed Dorothy and once I saw the guesses of the tourist and the luggage I could see it :)

You both look fab :D

Well done, Mel for finding these photographs. That's a great shot of you and your boy.
I hope you are managing to rest up and get better soon.

Thanks to the universe! As I'm happy to see you participating, Miss Dorothy. And I would also be guessing the crocodile hunter for the boy?

Both brilliant costumes! Hope your ankle is soon better :-)

You are obviously Dorothy, but I was thinking that your son was Crocodile Dundee. Clearly not a Terry Pratchett fan!!!

What a great 'Dorothy' you make...but am bamboozled by 'Two Flowers'!!

What great photos!!! Your shoes are just wonderful.

What fabulous photos! Your shoes jumped out at me too - they are gorgeous and make it easy to guess who you are. I've never read any Pratchett though. This is clearly a mistake..

Hope you are doing okay

Love how you've told your story but hate that a sprained ankle had to happen so we could read/see it. I immediately knew you were Dorothy but your son has me thoroughly puzzled - I've never heard of Terry Pratchett

ooh fabby dressing up outfits! I would never have guessed the boys character and I thought the teethy thing looked like a book of spells from Harry Potter!

Well I got "Dorothy" but not his costume despite having read quite a bit of Pratchett myself - must revisit!
