Inspired (To Stitch) By Embroidery

Oopsie, sorry! Meant to share this card with you last weekend, but - um - yeah, obviously that didn't happen... Here it is now :)

So, one of lovely Clair's themes in her fabby class of all things stitchery and papery is how you can be inspired by embroidery. Here's a pretty quick (and quickly pretty) card I rustled up using embroidery stitches on my sewing machine. Even if your machine is very basic you can have a go at this effect by varying the length of the long stitch and the width of the zigzag; my machine is only a small step up from basic but it still has a few interesting stitches to choose from, so you may well have quite a selection if you start exploring those dials!

A word about the ribbon: it would have been rather straighter if I'd stuck it down lightly first, with a glue stick, and allowed that glue stick to dry, rather than just *thinking* about doing so to the point that I forgot I hadn't *actually* done so...

Just two more prompts to go in this class, I'm very much looking forward to seeing them this weekend. Anyone been playing along? Have you linked up here? There's a most excellent prize available so it's definitely worth a go :) Happy stitching!

What a cute card. I'm definitely not stitching, but I have been considering buying a basic sewing machine to add to my new craft room.

What lovely patterns you've created on this card! A great reminder that some of our simplest tools can still produce great things - with a talented pair of hands to guide them, of course. :)

I love the idea of creating a card or layout using the decorative stitches - and it looks just like a sampler, only better! x
