JYC

While I've been thinking of Christmassy things, I pulled out my supplies for this year's Journal Your Christmas :) This year I'm planning to go small, just as I did for Learn Something New; I've cut some 'pages' (or rather cards!) 3x4", using some colourful Echo Park papers I got in a kit last year and immediately earmarked for this project! I've popped the cards, the rest of each sheet of paper and the sticker sheets that came with the kit into a box, along with a few Bazzill borders and a die-cut tag shape, as my starting point. I'll add other bits and pieces as I go along.

The cards are too small to add meaningful photos, but I plan to do some sort of December Daily too so any photos will go into that. And there won't be a huge amount of space for journaling, but I journaled pretty throughly last year so I'm not too worried about that either! Anything I want to write down will go on the back of each card, and I can fit quite a lot of my tiny writing into that space ;)

Are you JYCing this year? Or DDing? Or both? Have you done any preparation yet? Or do you like to take it as it comes? Are you excited about Christmas? Or not ready to even think about it yet?!

Love the small project idea. Makes it managable.

After year one of JYC I decided I would just be sure to add new Christmas topics each year so there is little stress and minimal prep. I love the papers you chose for this year1 I don't think about Christmas until after our Thanksgiving week.

Looks great Mel, good size.

This is my second year of JYC so a few learnings. I did it more for the aesthetic I think and looking at it now, I wish I had journaled more.

I have a precious weekend off (I work in retail) and I am spending it christmas crafting, replicating Shimelles crop from last weekend and getting my cards done, talking of which.....

I signed up for JYC last year and then never did anything for it (I was pregnant and exhausted!). I'm determined to join in this year and have already been preparing my album to make sure I'm ready.

I love your choice of papers, so happy! x

I've done JYC the last few years and love it, even though I've never completed every day I still love what i did manage to do. Maybe keeping it small is the answer! Love the colours you've chosen to use. x

Lovely selection of papers Mel. I'm combining JYC and DD, but not quite sure how I am going to approach it yet. I keep changing my mind!
Lovely to see you popping up in the comments again xx

I'm really hoping to complete some sort of project for this year - I did miss it last year. Maybe I'll be busy making it when we're in Coalport? x

Oh my goodness, what a great bunch of happy papers!

I'm not doing JYC or DD this year, but have several scrapping projects I'll be working on throughout the month (once I complete my handmade Christmas gifts). I'll be taking photos & blogging through the month as I enjoy the numerous holidays activities and events we have planned!

I'm more excited about doing JYC than I am about Christmas itself at the moment. Normally I don't think about the season until my birthday at the beginning of Dec but I've really enjoyed doing some little minibooks up for my son to sell and also preparing my Journal.

All this JYC Christmas prep that is going on at the moment reminds me that I must get my act together and sort out my album or I don't have a chance of getting past Dec 17th like last year!

love the fun and energy of your papers.

I'm not ready to think about Christmas yet. I need to abridge one of the projects because I just can't get my head around 'doing Christmas' for all of December

I'm doing a mix of both this year. I've selected my templates & my color scheme & picked out some kits to work with.

I signed up for JYC last year and managed a cover, the manifesto inner cover and three pages. Don't laugh, but the three pages weren't even December! I started on 28 Nov which was the first Sunday of advent - DD made going to church her advent promise so I thought it was a good day to start on.
I'm trying something different this year and I think I will pre-prepare next weekend - so you'll get a sneaky peak!

Still debating what I'm doing. Have done JYC the past 2 Christmases and never finished them. Maybe 3rd try will be the charm. :) Haven't looked into DD yet. Think whatever I do it will be digital (I've got lots of Christmas stuff in it) & 8x8 as I have the perfect album for Christmas in just that size.

I am not JYC'ing this year. I am doing a 12 Days of Christmas photography class with Cheryl Johnson but that will be it for me.

Mel, I love what you have picked out! Can't wait to see the whole thing when it's done. I'm going to be starting my mini for it today or tomorrow. I am definitely planning on doing JYC this year. :)

Hi Mel, funny you're going smaller while I'm going bigger for this year's JYC. Year 7 for me I *think* and the album for years 1-6 has not been finished yet, but decided I need a new one given it's the Twins' first Christmas. Looking forward to seeing your entries again.
