and I got very excited about the idea! Each issue of Craft Stamper comes with a free stamp, and inside the mag are two pages of sample projects using the stamp. This particular project involved getting a number of friends to colour in a stamped image, and then assembling them all into a little 'wandering book' (which I've always called a 'snake book', though I can see how the former might sound a bit more appealing!!)
I totally *love* the idea of this :) So, would anyone like to play along with me? Here's how I see it working:
- To make it manageable, I'm going to limit this to 16 participants, including myself.
- I will stamp out about 20 images for each of us (it's the face as shown in the pic above, designed by Sarah Lawrence of Crafty Notions). We actually only need 16 each, so 20 will be enough for us each to have an image from each other, plus spares in case of mistakes! The images are about 2 inches square.
- You colour in your images, and send 15 of them back to me (you keep the spares; one (or more) of them will form the front cover of your wandering book).
- I'll stamp using Archival ink, so you'll be able to use any colouring medium you choose, and there are no rules about the colour scheme - pick whatever colours you wish.
- Once I've received all the coloured images, I'll share them out and send you back 15 images from the other 15 of us taking part.
- I suggest that we have a time limit of 2 weeks from when you receive your images, which should be long enough to get them coloured in and packed up to post back to me. (I won't set a specific date, as overseas participants are welcome and their images will probably take longer to arrive!)
- Once I've sent out all the coloured images, I'll post a tutorial on my blog explaining how to make a wandering book, so if you haven't made one before the instructions will be here! Alternatively you can display or store your collection of images in any way you choose :)
- If there are fewer than 16 of us interested, I shall go ahead anyway with as many people as would like to!
Any questions, leave me a comment and I'll answer asap :)
Who wants to play?!

I'm not a stamper or colourer (or colour-inner?) but I did want to say - nice idea!
Sian - you don't have to be a stamper to play - crayons work just fine...
Mel - count me in! This sounds like fun!
Yes please - can I play. I have left my link.
Oh this sounds a great idea. All signed up.
This looks like lots of fun Mel, happy i saw the post before I'm off to work :)
was delighted I did my blog reading early this morning instead of waiting until late afternoon, I am sure it would have been full :) I have been practicing faces in my art journal so am excited for this project! Thanks, Mel
I started blog reading early today so glad I did or I would have missed this. Lovely idea
Ooh yes please Mel :o) I have the stamp already, so you wouldn't need to send me any images.
Great idea, but I know I'd get bored colouring in sixteen pics, so I'll sit this one out Mel!
Alison xx
What a great idea Mel. It would be nice to do something different :) I've left my link.
thanks Mel for this idea... completely new thing for me to try and I think it will be great fun!
Do the pics all have to be the same?
As in do they all have to be coloured in the same ... obviously they are all the same image!
Jemma (and anyone else) - no, there's no requirement to make them all the same, though it'll probably work best if you use the same colouring medium for your batch (but that's not a 'rule' either!)
So, 16 faces to colour? Can I enlist the services of willing young ones? If so, well, why not, I can give it a go!
OK I'm in if you'll have me :D
This sounds like fun! I'm joining in if I'm not too late =-)
Oh how fun! And I almost missed out...so glad Doug is watching football tonight and I'm on the computer. :o) I'm a bit nervous about my coloring skills, but when I saw Cheri's comment about using crayons I felt better.
And, hey, good job on the linky thingy! It worked out great. :o)
Eep! I just barely made it! :) You can send mine and my mom's together to save on postage! ;)
I put my name down as number sixteen just in case...I really would love to join in!
oh no!! such a great idea & I missed out :(
let me know if anyone has to pull out!! xx
Such a fun idea! When we see the tutorial for the wandering book perhaps we'll set up a second go at it.
I'll be an "alternate" as #17 on the list. Sorry, I didn't see this today or I would have hopped on board a little faster.
Hi Mel
Is it too late to sign up please? Have only just read your blog as away from home and computer at present. I may add to the linky thingy anyway in case there's a chance!
Thank you, Irene
