19th September: I took this book with me to read while we were away at the weekend, and finished it the evening after we got back. I don't normally read historical novels, but I quite enjoyed this one! And the film was on over the weekend, too, so I've taped it (well, V-plussed it) so will watch that when I get a spare evening. If ever I get a spare evening....

I enjoyed it too, along with the other two books in the trilogy. I find it fascinating how the courtiers lived and frightening how powerless and vulnerable the women often were.
A lot is left out in the film and I never imagined the Henry VIII of my history lessons looking like Eric Bana. I might have paid more attention!!

The Other Boleyn Girl is one of my favourite reads, but I thought the film version was totally rubbish!

Like Ruth, loved the book but hated the film - in fact it made me shout at the tv whilst watching it!
