2nd September: We spent a couple of nights with The Parents-In-Law, hoping to rest and start catching up with ourselves before travelling on home. (Didn't quite work, sadly, but hey!) We popped to their local Tesco to get a couple of essentials for the new school term - school shoes for both of The Children, a school bag for The Boy, and a pair of white-soled trainers for indoor PE (not to be confused with the other trainers for outdoor PE nor the rugby boots for Games, good grief!) And it turns out my 11-year-old son now has feet nearly as big as mine. We had to get his trainers from the men's department, because he needed size 7 and children's sizes stop at 6....

We are limping along hoping that the school shoes make it to the end of term three - they will, just! My boy goes through shoes like nothing else, I am convinced he drags himself along scuffing the toes as best as he can!

This struck a chord today Mel. I've just sent my son off wearing his new school shoes and carrying his new football boots. He also had to take his new indoor trainers, in case rain stops play this morning! I don't even want to think how much that little lot cost us and have to keep my fingers crossed that he brings it all home again!

Large feet? Bet that means he is going to grow tall too :)

I always loved that new school term meant new school shoes.
