Yesterday was *amazing!*

Yesterday I got my first glimpse of the Pacific...

Yup, that's rollerbladers to the left :)

Yesterday The Children got to play on a Californian beach!

They're ridiculously overdressed, I know...

Yesterday I paddled in the ocean waters:

This was not the first attempt at this shot. The first attempt saw me suddenly standing in water to my knees. Since I was wearing cut-offs that reached to mid-calf, this was not ideal!

Yesterday we learnt something of the power, speed and beauty of the breakers along this beach:

See also above!!

Yesterday we saw pelicans flying by!

Just - wow!

Yesterday we strolled along just a short portion of the miles of beautiful sands of Newport Beach:

Photos taken from Balboa Pier

Yesterday we tried salt water taffy for the first time!

And we pronounced it delicious :)

Yesterday we took a boat trip out onto the Pacific:

A kind fellow-traveller offered to take this shot of us :)

Yesterday we saw three blue whales!! Not close enough or for long enough for me to get a photo, but we saw them!! I did manage to photograph a few of the many, many dolphins we saw - here's one:

I got lots of shots of empty ocean and hints of tail or the swirl of water as a dolphin disappeared under the surface again, but I got a few good pics!

...and some sunbathing sealions :)

They sunbathe to dry out their skin because it improves the waterproofing, apparently!

Yesterday we lingered long enough to watch the sun go down:

I love this shot :)

Yesterday my darling husband spotted this photo opportunity as The Children and I sat on a wall watching the sunset!

Love that he thought to take this :) Love that he captured his own shadow in the left of the shot, too!

Yesterday I fulfilled a long-held ambition: to watch the sun set over the Pacific Ocean :)

*happy sigh!*

Yesterday was *amazing!* I hope your yesterday was amazing too, my friends. Wishing you all a very happy week xx

It is very cool to see the sights I take for granted through a newcomer's eyes. Even though I am on the East Coast and the sun rises on my ocean, I haven't gone to watch it come up in years. I hope you enjoy your stay in California.

The Pacific is indeed a beautiful ocean! I love seeing dolphins and pelicans and whales, we don't see whales all that often but I probably take for granted seeing the other wild life!
I am so glad you have had a wonderful time at the ocean - it never ceases to amaze me, I find it almost intoxicating and I love to stand on the beach and close my eyes and inhale deeply and listen to the roar of the waves crashing all around me.
