Blog Break

Dear friends,

As you may well have noticed, I haven't been around much lately. My Project 365 posts keep coming but I haven't shared many 'other' posts, and I haven't been able to visit your blogs either.

This was always going to be a busy time of year for me - the end of the summer term is always busy for a teacher, and when you add to that the fact that it's The Boy's last term at primary school, which adds the school production, leavers' party, leavers' assembly, school residential trip, welcome evenings/induction days at his new secondary, etc, etc into the mix, plus our preparations for our LA trip (which is now only 3 weeks away!) - yes, no wonder I've been busy.

On top of this though several people I know are going through some very tough times at the moment. This isn't my news and I don't feel comfortable going into details, but I'm doing what I can to support my friends practically, emotionally and spiritually. It's another demand on my time, most willingly given, but another reason to not be able to spend much time online.

I've also found that these events have pulled me away from the computer emotionally anyway. When other things settle down I'll have more time available to fit in all the things I want to do, including visiting your blogs regularly again. For now, I need to prioritise and plan my time carefully, and once the essentials are done, spending time with The Doctor and The Children is highest up my list (this should of course be an essential anyway, but can so easily slip down the list of priorities!) Hence this blog break.

I will be keeping up with my Project 365 photos, because it's useful for me to get my notes about each day written down before the memories fade or escape altogether! And similarly I may add another couple of quick posts here and there. I'll understand if you don't leave comments - I know I'm not the only busy one right now, and after all it's some time since I've been able to comment on your posts! I'm very grateful, as ever, for the comments you do leave though :) I get an email notification to my phone whenever you comment, so even when my computer stays switched off for a few days I do get to see your comment and it cheers me immensely :) I do look forward to catching up with you all properly and hope it won't be too long before I can do so.

For now, though, I just wanted to let you know why I've not been around much, to say 'Hello', and to hope all is well with you. Speak soon, my friends xx

Your friends are very lucky to have such a good friend to support them through the tough times. You have your priorities absolutely right. We have missed your other blog post, and I wondered if it was just end-of-term-itis and preparing for your big adventure this summer. In this area it is 'Taster Day' this Thursday so I guess your boy will be off to his new school sometime soon too. I hope he has a good day and it makes him all the more excited to go for real in September. Take care xxx

Enjoy your break from regular blogging, Mel. Am missing your other blog posts but will be looking forward to more later this year.

I will have to take a blog break for a bit (???!?!) myself in 2 weeks! :D

I understand completely - I'm just struggling with getting to the end of term. You have your priorities right and everyone understands. xx

Your posts are missed but you definitely have all your priorities in the right place. Your friends and family are so important and blessed to have you there for them. I do hope you will post before you leave for LA, I am excited for your visit over here, even if CA is nothing like NC. Suggestion...amidst being so busy, do take a wee bit of time each day to recharge yourself. I'll be here when you come back (and with or without your comments I'd be a Mel fan ;> )

There are always natural ebbs and flows. I do hope you'll be back later on when the timing feels right.

It's so thoughtful of you to take the time to let us know what is going on in your non-blogging life. Reminds me to take care of the important things in life, like friends and family. The blog isn't going anywhere! Best wishes and warm thoughts to you.

Mel, it does sound like a really busy time for you right now. It's often hard to take a look at our priorities and let some things slide for a while, but it always turns out for the best when we can honestly assess things and take the time we need. So kudos to you for taking a break - we'll be around when life eases up a little bit. (I had to "Mark All As Read" a few weeks ago in my Google Reader and then move forward because I'd gotten so behind with family here visiting.)

Oh, Mel, I completely understand where you are coming from on every thing you've written here. I have had many similar feelings myself lately, and I applaud you for taking a little step back to take care of other things that are of more importance. Please let me know if I can help in any way! Looking forward to meeting you and giving you a great big hug in LA next month!!! Take care. xo

I will miss your posts as others have said, we are not going anywhere and will here when you return. End of term is always busy - I'm feeling squeezed too. Take care of your self.

Take it easy, Mel! Family and Other Things are way more important than blogging. Not being a crafter (shame on me) I always look out for your non-crafting posts, but I shall put on a brave face and deal with a dearth of these till you are back in full flight again. Many good wishes to all the real people.

*hugs* Mel. It's always hard when so many things demand your attention. It's lovely that you can still support your friends in such a busy time. I hope you get time to breathe and take it all in.
