5th July: As another part of the celebration of 400 years of the King James Bible, The Doctor gave a talk on the history of the translations of the Bible. It was a really interesting talk - my first chance to hear him speak since his speech at our wedding! And we had a great turnout for it, too :)

Detail: Caked

I had to laugh at this being the first time the first time you had heard the Doctor speak since your Wedding Speech...isn't it funny how little we are involved in our OH's 'other life'?

I've just scrolled down your last few posts. I have also been super busy for the last few weeks (all those people who moan that teachers get such long holidays have no idea how much extra we do just before and after those hols) and I haven't had much time to do more than vaguely think 'not much on Mel's blog recently'. So that's why I haven't commented before this to say 'we'll miss you', but well done for getting your priorities straight. Blogging is supposed to be a hobby - and when it becomes another chore it is time to take a break. Will look forward to seeing you back soon when things calm down. Take care. Kirstyxx

Ooh, exciting about The Doctor's talk! Has he been to the Bodleian, to see the exhibition about the King James Bible? We saw that when we were in Oxford on 1st July - it was amazing... well, you know I love books! Well worth a visit, if he can get there (assuming he hasn't already lol!).

Yummy cake... hungry.... mmmm....

I would have gone to this if he had been speaking here, definitely - I've read Adam Nicolson's book several times. Fascinating!
