Or, to put it another way, anyone up for a blog hop?
This idea has been gradually evolving for a while now, but I think it might be ready at last :-) As many of you know, I love numbers; however, I also love words and letters. I'd love to host a blog hop with an alphabet theme. Anyone in?

Here's how I see it working:
It would be lovely if we had 26 people, because there are (of course) 26 letters in the alphabet. Well, there are for me, 'cos I'm English. If anyone from overseas who uses a different alphabet is interested in joining in, we can discuss how that would work (and I'm happy to make it work!) Fewer than 26 people would be fine, we'd just use fewer letters :-) (I also have a back-up idea just in case more than 26 people sign up!) I figured that we would each take on a particular letter, and base a blog post around that letter. I'd probably have to allocate letters randomly so we didn't end up with lots of one particular letter and everyone fighting shy of Q, X and Z.... But you see, even with a 'tricky' letter you could build a blog post! I have a few ideas to get you started, and you'd be most welcome to take it in a new direction if you wanted, too!
Possible ideas:
- Write a blog post where you use your given letter as many times as possible
- Write a blog post where you use every other letter of the alphabet, but completely avoid your given letter!
- Create a scrapbook layout or other project where you make use of your given letter, possibly by using a title which begins with that letter, or incorporating it in some other way
- Find an example of your given letter on a road sign, street name, poster, book cover, piece of graffiti, magazine, advert, map, car licence plate, etc, etc, and photograph it
- Find as many examples as possible of your given letter as above, and photograph them all
- Make your given letter in an interesting way (eg out of sticks, stones and leaves, or kitchen utensils, or clothes, or children, etc, etc) and photograph it
- Make a card or other project in the shape of your given letter
- Write a blog post which is in some way inspired by your given letter, however tenuous that link may seem!
The blog hop would run on Sunday 17th April, at 2pm BST (that's GMT+1). If you're in a different time zone, you can visit this site to find out what time that will be with you. That should give you a bit of time to organise the contents of your post :-) You'd need to set up an autopost so all the posts go live at the same time, but if you haven't done this before and you're not sure how to go about it, just let me know and I'll talk you through the process. It's easy, I promise!
Anyone in? Please email me: ispeakmelsh {at} hotmail {dot} com with your blog address and I'll get in touch with further details. Let me know by this Sunday (10th April) please, so I'll know if this will work and can put the list together! Hoping to hear from you soon xx
**Edited to add: The list is pretty much full now - please see my note towards the end of the comments below! Sorry to anyone who missed out and is disappointed, but I do hope you'll come along and visit us on the day**

So, reading along I am thinking 'YES' what a great idea and we need a good old blog hop, and I am even happy to have one of the 'dodgy' letters ... but alas, I will be away .... hmmmmm, I think it will be too tricky for me to participate this time around.

I am happy to give this a whirl if you#ll have me? Thanks
What a fun idea! So wish I could join in, but will be on vacation with pretty much no Internet (darn!).
I'll join in! It always takes me a few days to get my head round a challenge like this and then I come up with an idea at the last minute (she said with her fingers crossed)!
Yes please Mel :D I lurve numbers and letters and punctuation (especially the apostrophe) too :D
I am so up for this! Just hope I don't get a 'dodgy' letter ;-)

I would love to play along. We could do something like Cathy Z. did with her "Me: The Abridged Version" class where you use each letter of the alphabet to tell something about you. She based ii on a book she read, "Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life” by Amy Krouse Rosenthal.
Whatever you decided, I'd love to participate.
I'm definitely in for this Mel, it sounds like lots of fun!!
I'm in too...but will need a tutorial on 'autopost' as I'm at work all day on Sundays...but don't want to miss out!! I'm off to email you right now!! :)

Hi Mel,
I would love to join if you still have space!
Just a quick note - even taking into account my 'back-up plan', this hop is filling up fast! There are only a few spaces left now, so if you do want to join us, please let me know as soon as possible :-) If you've commented here but I haven't yet received an email from you, I'm holding a place for you and I've left comments on your blogs; please email me as soon as you can so I can firm up your place! Thank you xx

Wow, thanks everyone for a great response :-) I'm still waiting to hear from a couple of people who've expressed an interest but not yet emailed, but if they all now get in touch then the hop is full - so sorry if you missed out... If you want to be a 'first reserve' though, in case anyone doesn't manage to email me in time, please let me know. I'd let you know by this Sunday (10th) at the latest so you wouldn't be putting something together at the last minute!
Don't think I'd have been able to participate this time round,as I have houseguests that weekend, but it sounds right up my street! next time hopefully. Thanks for all the lovely lovely comments you left on my blog, Mel
Alison xx

Oh darn on too late but look forward to following what you all post! Sounds interesting!
Too late to join, but I'll be back to visit. I'll email you to be on the reserve list.
Silly question here - what do you mean by GMT +1 ? I see a GMT on the list, is that what I use?
If I calculated it correctly that's 7:00 Arizona time for Carrie and me. :o) Thanks, Mel.
