10th March: The Girl's class had a special 'VE Day' party to celebrate the end of a very successful topic on World War II. She insisted that she dress up as a boy....
She is just far too cute for words ... er, sorry young lad, you make a fine young man! I am noticing the juxtaposition to the sign, was that intentional mother?
However, in one breath you're saying she looks just like a boy, and in the next you're saying she looks just like me?! How am I meant to take that?! ;-)
She makes a great school-boy! I have a photo of my DS in 1940's costume, with his "gas mask box" on a string. I ransacked the charity shops in town, and found a sleeveless pullover, a suitable tie and an old-fashioned blazer - a real wool one too, which looked so authentic. It's fun for the children to dress up as 1940's evacuees - glad The Girl enjoyed the experience. She/he looks very smart in that photo.
...is what I speak. It describes what I actually say (nonsense, mostly) and how I say it (ie my accent, which is a mixture of all sorts - a bit of North of England, a bit of Irish, a bit of South West England, a lot of just me!) The word comes from my name, Mel, and the fact that I'm one-quarter Welsh. But there's not actually any Welsh in my accent. Go figure...

Bless her, I had to look twice she makes a wonderful 1940s boy too.
I can really see the likeness between The Girl and you
Mary B's comment about the likeness between her and you -that's exactly what struck me.She definitley makes a fine young man!
You've made a young tomboy very happy :-)

PS Amy - it *could* just be a coincidence.....!
There's not much that I can say that hasn't already been said!
Goodness, doesn't she look good.
You look fine Mel and it's quite alright to have a boy with features so similar to his mother. Even if that boy is really a girl in disguise ;-D
TSO is very envious - she would love to have a VE party. Being evacuated remains one of her long term ambitions.

Now that really is dedication to the art of dressing up!
Dare I ask? Were there any boys dressing up as girls?!
lol!! No boys as girls!
She is simply adorable, and standing next to one of my favorite posters.
Such a wonderful outfit! It must have been fun for her to dress as the other half dress! :)
