Friends old and new

I've been so lucky this year to be able to meet up with several friends - in January we visited friends The Doctor used to work with, an old schoolfriend of mine, a friend from university days, and Sian and her family. This month another old schoolfriend (who I hadn't seen for several years!) was able to call by for an afternoon, and this weekend I'll see another friend from school after a gap of a couple of years. I've got together with The Fabulous One twice, and that's always special.

And today? Today I got to meet Ruth :-)

Ruth and I discovered some time ago that her mum lives near where I live, and so when Ruth planned a trip to visit her mum this week, she asked if I'd be around to meet for a coffee. Oh, yes! I was definitely free! And so we each took a trip into town, made our way to a branch of Waterstones, and met up in the Costa :-)

The Girl took the photo. She was determined to get the front cover of the cake-decorating book in shot, because it had dogs on it. Can you see it, there on the right?!

We had such a lovely time! Ruth was just as warm and friendly and nice as she comes across on her blog and in her emails :-) It was great to share coffee with her and chat blogging, scrapping, parenting, reading, and life in general! I'm very much looking forward to our next chance to get together, and will be encouraging Ruth to visit her mum again very soon ;-)

Oh, and Ruth brought me along this gorgeous bunch of flowers, how sweet is that?

It was lovely to see you Ruth, and I do look forward to our next coffee together :-)

Ah, it's so good to meet up with friends old and new....

Oh, you are very welcome and the pleasure was all mine! Glad you photographed the flowers, because I forgot to! My post will be up later, once DS is in bed.
Thanks very much for such a lovely morning. xx

I'm feeling envious again today :) And I'm smiling at the clever meeting place you came up with. Perfect! It's lovely to see the two of you together (do you think Ruth will make it my way? I wish she would..)

What a great post! I look forward to meeting more blog friends some day. We're hoping to spend some time in England this summer, so will put out a call. And when we return to Ireland in 2012, I'm definitely tracking Sian down!

Just look at you two! Who'd have thought that you would have the opportunity to meet up.
So, when are you coming to Hertfordshire then Mel?!
