Creating Experimentally (I)

I've been having a lot of fun just 'playing' craftwise lately :-)

The art journaling is one example of that - trying stuff out, messing round, just having fun with ideas and techniques - some of which work well, some not so much, but it doesn't matter because the fun is in the creative process and the end product isn't actually the main focus!

I've tried a few other little things, too. I'll maybe share all of them in due course, but here's one...

A little while ago, SJ guest-posted on Shimelle's blog, showing different ways to make punched paper decorations. One in particular really appealed to me and I had to give it a go as soon as possible.

I love this effect - I plan to finish it with a button or gem in the centre then use it on a card :-)

But then I got to thinking and wondering. I had an idea that the same design might just work with felt. Shall we see if it did?

Yes, I rather think it did! It looked good with just the larger size petals so I didn't try to add a layer of smaller ones (though I may try that another time). I stitched a safety pin on the back so I can wear the flower as a brooch, or pin it to a handbag, or add it to a hairband, or.... Lots of ideas! And I think it looks even better in felt than in paper (though it does take longer to put together). But this was an experiment I'll be repeating :-)

Oh, by the way - a couple of people asked about my Twist photo that posted this morning? It's a pair of strawberry yo-yos - they're chewy and delicious! And Mary, you asked about the titles of my photos? I'm actually taking a photo of some detail from my day and then choosing an appropriate title, rather than starting with a title and trying to take an appropriate photo - I have seen a few challenges of the latter type on other blogs though, and the idea did sort of arise from those. I'm trying to be imaginative and think laterally with my titles, though inspiration isn't always forthcoming!

Making felt flowers is addictive! I did one for my counterfeit kit last month and had to restrain myself from using up a lot more felt making a lot more :) I am just loving felt at the moment, and this is a very fine example of felt flowerage!

Mel the felt flower is beautiful and as you say so many uses for it. That is one I'll definitely have a go at.
I like your way round of doing the one word, may have to have a go at that too, sometime.
