Thinking aloud

  • I loved using the date overlays from Ali Edwards for my Project 365 photos last year, but I'm also quite happy with leaving the photos plain this time round - for now, at least. Not least because the easiest way to get last year's pics into a photobook was to use one of the standard templates, which chopped the ends off my photos! The date is still there OK, and the line along top and bottom, but the left and right edges of the frame got lost.... They still look good, and I'm not going to fret about it, but it's another reason to not use them this time round (yet, anyway)
  • But I mustn't forget that they'd make perfect journaling cards when printed onto cardstock, and I can match the colour to my project, too! Mental note: Check page kits for the layouts I want to make with the photos from last weekend. Do I have suitable journaling spots yet? Do I want to print out a couple of cards from those overlays?
  • I seem to be finding it hard to keep up with people's blogs at the moment. I keep catching up, then having a busy few days and falling behind again. This is OK in that I'm Blogging Without Obligation and I know I will catch up again, but I do miss keeping up to date with what all my blog friends are doing. Need to review my blogging routine again I think, and find a way to make it work better. Looks like periodical reviews are in order
  • Emails! I need to reply to emails from my friends, too! Where does the time go?!
  • I feel a blog hop idea coming on. Hmm. Got the basic idea of it, need to plan out the details, decide a good time to hold it, and see who might be interested. Thinking probably worth waiting till just a little later in the year - March, maybe?
  • Having two cameras on the go is working OK for now, and it is much easier to carry the point and shoot round with me, but The Doctor will need to take that for his research trips soon. Need to start thinking of my new dSLR as MY camera, and the p&s as HIS camera - the p&s was bought for The Doctor for work purposes, remember?!
  • Some of my photos lately have come out with a 'blueish' tinge. I do usually leave my photos unedited unless I'm deliberately going for a particular effect, but I must take a look at removing the blue colour cast
  • Can't wait for the Tim Holtz class :-) It's getting close now! So excited about the sneak peeks of the kits being assembled. Must check the saving fund. What else could I forgo in order to put a few more pounds aside for the shop?
  • Looking forward to the chance to meet up with a fellow blogger or two in the near future - though feeling unaccountably shy, too - just a little bit! But more excited than shy :-)
  • Malteser cake. Must get ingredients for Malteser cake
  • I find it hard to publish a blog post without a photo. Wonder if I've got a photo I could share? Maybe one from last weekend? Or - maybe 4 from last weekend?! They do fit in with my one little word, after all - just a few details I noticed during our walk...

This dog's owner was a bit bemused when I asked if I could take a photo, but the dog was quite happy to pose!

It intrigued me that, with the whole bench free, this person chose to sit right at the end. I liked the composition of what I could see, though, and wanted to try to capture that within a photograph.

Fishing? Taking a break from fishing? It looks wet and uncomfortable, either way!

The people wearing warm coats and carrying umbrellas were in a queue at an ice cream van! And yes, OK, the van also sells coffee, but I like the juxtaposition anyway :-)

Yes....I enjoyed reading your thoughts as well....though it is becoming more and more obvious that you need to give up sleep altogether!!
As for the bench....I sit like that as well....you can't get squashed in the middle then....and can always make a quick getaway!!!

Enjoyed reading the many htoughts going through your lovely mind :) I too have to figure out my blog reading schedule. I use Google Reader which certainly gets rid of the time visiting blogs that haven't updated since my last read. I seem to have fallen into a thing where I see soemthing in someone's post with a link or something intrigues me in a side bar and I am off on a roll visiting other places. While this is not a bad thing, I definitely have to get a grip on my blog time mgmt @@ Good luck with your thoughts!

Enjoyed reading your musings today.

I use my Google reader to separate blogs by category, so those I want to keep up with are separate. There's one section I check very often and others that I might visit once a week and scroll through several posts.

Loved the photos!

What a fun post - love the dog photo. And like the comment above me, I have my google reader divided into sections to help me get through things quickly and on-the-go.

I know what you mean about blog reading, I feel so far behind. Today I've managed to catch up on a few but I haven't had a chance to leave comments on all. I'm hoping I'll settle back into a routine again soon.
Who did you decide to go with for your photo book for last years 365 project? I find when I use the overlays and print from home I don't get even borders so I've stopped using them for now.

Great photos! Mine often come out with a yellow cast due to indoor lighting & wall color.

A blog hop would be fun!

I have my blogs grouped into folders in google reader & my goal is to read two folders of blogs a day, or at least one. So generally I hit every blog 2-3 times a week. Or 1-2 times. Depends.

Love your photos.. and your thoughts! I have no useful tips to impart on blog-reading as even with Google Reader I am useless at keeping up! And almost as useless at keeping my own blog updated! ;)

I love the park bench the composition is perfect the weather adds to the scene something that fine weather would have missed.
It looks as though she is making the seat sink into the mud.

Mel I have recently turned to google reader and I'm really liking it - but, even though I feel as though I can read all of the posts - trying to make pockets of time to go and comment is another thing altogether!

Regarding blue tinge to photos - perhaps have a play with the white balance - it can make an enormous difference :-)

Enjoyed your thoughts and the photos. I finally categorized my blogs in Google Reader into folders. I try to check "friends" (that's you) every day or other day if I'm busy. The other blogs (cards, scrapbook, photography . . .) I feel like I can let go if I'm short on time. Nonetheless, I still have to watch the clock so I don't wile away all of my creative time. There's so much information I want to know on photography blogs, for example, that I could spend the better part of the morning on just a few of those.

LOVE your thoughts. A bit of a tease about a blog hop. Hmmmm.
Your photos are beautiful. I am like you and feel like I am cheating if I post without a photo.

I missed yesterday for work and today with a stomach bug and fired up my computer to find 58 unread posts! (And I only have 50 blogs subscribed in my Google Reader!) Looks like it may be time for another purge...

blog hop sounds great! can't wait for details.
