14th January: Our washing machine broke at Christmas. It was pretty clear that it was beyond repair. We ordered a new one online on 1st January, expecting it to take about a week (because that's what the website had quoted at the beginning of the process). At the end of the process, we were informed that we would be contacted by the 27th January to arrange a delivery date. *sigh* At the time of writing, we still haven't heard; meanwhile, The Mother is very kindly letting us pop round there regularly to use her machine.

Detail: Plasticine

Last year we had the similar experience with our washer and dryer. Fortunately our old set held out long enough for the new pair to finally arrive.

Hope yours arrive in short order.

Nothing worse than being without a washing machine....same thing happened to us beginning of this month....but Electrocentre delivered next day....might be one to remember.
Thanks for your lovely comments on my last few posts.

As a mom with a daughter whose washing machine was broken for a little while, I'm sure your mom will be a little sad when yours is fixed. It was nice to have Carrie hanging around here waiting for her laundry to finish although I know it was inconvenient for her. Now, it is inconvenient for you times four people!

I really like how you propped the shoes next to the basket - makes a great photo! So glad The Mother is near enough you can borrow her machine, but I know you'll be glad to have the new one in place soon.

Glad the Mother is close! My washer and dryer squeak and thump and make lots of other noises, but they're still working. Hope delivery doesn't take too long!

Blessedly when we had to replace ours 18 months ago we were able to take it with us. Occasionally having that gas guzzling truck comes in handy. Glad you at least have one to borrow nearby

Ah, we had to wait for my Mother's new dishwasher. It was held up by the snow... then the engineer who was going to fit it had the flu and couldn't come. A month of hand-washing your dishes, with arthritic hands is no fun...

Hope your machine arrives soon. I'd say a box of chocs would be a good gift for The Mother... she's a hero!

a home without a working washing machine is a sad place! Ours has been doing triple duty lately keeping up with washing all the bedding from me being sick (trying to minimize spread of germs). Couldn't imagine having to haul that! Hope your new one makes the earlier date!

How awful, there's nothing much worse than being without a washing machine - especially in a house with children (and a husband!). ;)
