To Do: Make Lists!

I am List Woman. I love lists! I love making them, and I love crossing things off them...

I don't just stick to straightforward lists, either. Oh, no! That would be too simple! For example, for Christmas presents my list has several columns: Name of recipient, item to buy, and then columns to tick when the item has been bought, when I've wrapped it, and when it's been given or sent. Similarly, my list of Christmas cards has columns to tick when the card's been written, and when it's been given or sent. (I did, a few years ago, have a column for if/when I received a card back from that person but I've stopped worrying about that now!)

And then there are all the other lists associated with Christmas:
  • Non-perishable food to buy (in the order in which I'll find it in store)
  • Fresh food to buy (ditto)
  • Santa letters written (in my role as Santa's secretary-elf)
  • Cooking to do, and the date on which it's best done
  • Christmas plays and services to attend, and on which date
  • Gifts received and from whom
  • Thank you letters written
  • Friends to call or visit
  • Topics to cover in my JYC project!

Yes, I just love lists :-)

I promised to tell you which Advent calendar was whose, didn't I? OK, then - first here's a reminder of the four calendars:

(That photo doesn't get any less blurry in time, does it?!)

The Girl was NOT thrilled at the suggestion that the Peppa Pig calendar might be hers. She asks me to remind you all that she is a The Tomboy type! Hers is actually the Milkybar one, because she loves white chocolate.

Any of us would have been happy with a Doctor Who themed calendar, but this one is The Boy's. (And as Jo says, I'd rather have David Tennant than a Dalek!)

That leaves the Dairy Milk calendar, and the Peppa Pig one. Remember that it's The Doctor's birthday on 1st December? And we have a tradition that we give him an Advent calendar as part of his present each year? Well, since The Children were old enough to be involved in that process, the calendar has tended to be a bit - silly..... Last year we got him an In The Night Garden calendar. This year he got Peppa Pig. (He wasn't as pleased as he might have been! How ungrateful!)

So, of course, mine is the Dairy Milk one. Yum!

Which means that no-one got it right this year either lol......

I love making lists. Unfortunately, I never actually follow them.

Do you ever get to the point of writing down things you have actually done, just so you can cross them off? My MIL does this!

Ha, ha, ha; I should have known. Nice one for the Doctor. Still grinning. Wish they did make a David Tennant one, I'd definitely get one for me too :-)

Like the idea of lists, I try but don't get very far with lists. Hope you family like their gifts.

I have many of the same lists - including the whether I received a Christmas card or not. That is a multi-year list and if I send for three years in a row without a return card, the recipient gets dropped from the list! I figure at that point they are either (a)just not into Christmas cards or (b) don't really care for hearing from me - in either event the cost of creating the card and postage is too pricey to keep sending to people who don't appreciate it!

And I knew I couldn't begin to guess on the advent calendars ... so I didn't even try!

I'm not good at lists,I normally do all the shopping then do a list of who I haven't got for !Totally illogical I know! I can't be having too many lists or I get confused:-)

I tried easing off the lists this year - just to see how things would go and if I could exist .... the verdit is that life is easier and more efficient with a list - all hail the lists!

Love your pretty list! I used to be someone who would have a list of her lists, but am trying to wean myself off - found it too stressful! Admiring your determination. :)

Having never heard of Peppa Pig I went along with that idea because everyone else thought it was a good idea. Totally peer pressure there.

I'm another list lover. I've been known to put something I did on the list just so I could cross it off!
