Perfect

What would make Christmas just perfect for you?

If I allow myself to daydream about my perfect Christmas, if I close my eyes and envisage the ideal Yuletide, what do I see? At first there's a flurry of activity: shopping, wrapping, singing, cooking, eating, laughing, rehearsing, visiting, decorating, eating, drinking, writing cards, watching the school play, attending the end of term service, listening to carols, rushing, hurrying, busy, busy, busy....

And yes, that dashing around and getting things done and making haste to the next thing and having a to-do list that's 5 pages long - all that is part of the fun! (Even if it can get stressful and tiring at times!)

But the images in my mind's eye slowly settle and calm. Gradually, what comes into focus is peace, and tranquility, and calm. Space to sit back and relax. Time to just enjoy being with my family and friends. And the opportunity to remember what Christmas is really, actually about - the birth of Jesus Christ, our Saviour - and to worship him.

That's what makes Christmas perfect for me.

My perfect is time with family. It rarely happens throughout the year because we all live so far apart. It's my favorite part of the holidays.
