Manifesto

I'm so excited that this class is here again! I just love Christmas, and the build up to it throughout December :-) I love that taking this class helps me to take time to enjoy all the special activities rather than hurtling through this busy time without actually taking any of it in!

Last year I combined the JYC idea with a December Daily. It worked really well for me and I *love* my album. I found though that I wasn't doing much actual 'journaling'; most pages had a title and little else! I don't have a problem with that, and I don't love last year's album any the less for it, but this year I'd like to focus more on the writing.

My Project 365 will cover the December Daily aspect of the month already, so it doesn't matter if JYC is covering a topic on a day that doesn't match our family routine. Some of what I write will be specific to this year, sure, but I want to get the generalities down, too. We have so many traditions that we revisit every year and I want to record them so they don't get forgotten!

But I also love to create. I may not have much time to scrap each day, but an envelope provides a small enough canvas that I should be able to add a bit of patterned paper and an embellishment or two in just a few minutes. And actually, I don't need to do it on the day if it doesn't work out that way. I'd like to journal on the day each prompt arrives (though I won't stress about it if I can't fit it in, I'll just catch up when I can!) but the scrapping part can happen whenever I get the chance, before or after the event.

So, that's my plan. That's how I want JYC to happen for me this year. And through the process, I want to do all of these things:

I reckon they'll all be a natural side-effect, anyway :-)

Happy December, everybody! xx

Don't you love it when you get it figured out what works best for you :) The first year I did JYC I let it actually become a stresser instead of an enjoyment. Since then I have become much better about doing what works for me and if my drummer is beating a little differently we're still marching (or maybe some days skipping lol) along.

So glad to see you fully back! I really like your plan. Last time I really did JYC, it was very backward looking and general. Thisntime I'm going to focus on the present. Also last time, no pix. This year, one pix a day.

Ooh, I'm looking forward to this. My JYC from 2008 is absolutely jam-packed with journaling and memories from Christmases past and I love looking at it. This year, I plan on using Shimelle's prompts as a guide for my December Daily, if I have a day or two where I'm stuck for ideas.

I am so happy that JYC has started. I'm really hoping to get more journaling in this time around. The pages will happen when they happen but the plan is to journal daily at least

I'm writing more this year too, I don't know what happened last year. I just didn't seem to have the time so I didn't write a lot and I stopped on new years eve!

Loving your first page Mel :)
