It looks like Christmas!

There have been decorations up outside our local shops for a couple of weeks now. As the days pass, more and more of the houses near us have put up lights, and you can catch glimpses of Christmas trees, garlands and such like as you walk past. In school, we put up the big tree in the hall last Thursday, ready for the Christmas fair on Friday, and in church the even bigger tree was put up ready for last Sunday's Toy Service (the first of the special Christmas services which take place through December). There are signs of Christmas everywhere!

In our house? Not so much, not yet. With The Doctor and The Boy both having December birthdays, we're careful not to let Christmas take over too soon, so that they can each feel that their day is special in its own right. Our decorations don't go up until after the 7th December - and in fact, we often wait till rather later than that!

In fact, I would have confidently said that we wait until The Children break up each year, and celebrate the start of the holidays by putting up the tree and arranging the other decorations. But when I look back at last year's JYC, I see that we actually decorated earlier in December than that, and I can't remember why!

This year, we're waiting till after The Boy's birthday party, which takes place on Saturday. Next Wednesday we're hosting our house group Christmas social, and it would be lovely to have the tree at least ready for then, so I guess we'll be putting our decorations up on Sunday! And then it will actually look like Christmas in our house too....

We've noticed a couple of our neighbours have got trees up and the lights have been up in town since the end of November. Nothing at our house yet either, we normally wait till 12 days before Christmas before decorating - Emily, however, would like us to put the tree up sooner rather than later ;-) xx

Love the page Mel. And I'm totally envious of the fact that you are up-to-date on your JYC pages!

These pesky December birthdays eh?! We have one in our house too, the husband's is on the 12th so we have to allow him sufficient birthday time before I start to display any cards we have received! The tree will be going up any day now though, it has to be up and ready for the birthday boy.

Beautiful page. We're still treeless here at our house. Other stuff is up, but it never looks like Christmas until the tree is in the house smelling SO pretty.

Enjoy seeing your Journal Your Christmas pages. It was nice to come home from the cruise to the lights and tree up. My Boy likes doing that part of the holidays.

Sadly I miss watching My Mann and My Boy working together to get those decorations out and up on/in the house. I think I'll have to scrap that thought.

Need to finish the rest of the decorating hopefully this weekend after My Mann's birthday.

My brother's birthday is tomorrow, and my mother was so careful not to put up any decorations until after he had celebrated his birthday in style! My house is decorated, and usually is from the first Sunday in Advent until after the New Year.
