Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve: In some ways, the busiest day of all. It's the day I do as much preparation as possible so that Christmas Day runs smoothly. It's the day I peel, slice, trim and chop the vegetables, the day I make the stuffing, the day I defrost everything that was got ready in advance, the day I cook the turkey even - so all the food is as ready as possible. It's the day I do any last minute cleaning and tidying, the day I do any last minute gift-wrapping if necessary (though that's usually under control before now), the day I check that list one last time and try to get everything crossed off at last...

Christmas Eve: In some ways, the most exciting day of all. It's the day we go to the carol service for children in the early evening, and enjoy a fun and silly service with some uplifting singing and sweet child cameos. It's the day we hang up the stockings, set out the drinks and snacks for Santa and the reindeer, and The Children don their new pyjamas. It's the day that's filled with anticipation and expectation. It's the day we keep remembering with a sudden jolt of excitement that tomorrow, at last, it really is Christmas Day...

Christmas Eve: In some ways, the happiest day of all. It's the day that The Doctor's finished work so we can spend time together as a family without the distraction of all the new presents and without The Children being over-wrought and over-tired after a sleepless night and an early start. It's the day that we start enjoying the special Christmas foods, enjoying a family meal in the evening with some of our favourite treats. It's the day that people you see will greet you with a cheery 'Merry Christmas!' It's the day that the air feels filled with the magic of Christmas....

Christmas Eve: In some ways, my favourite day of all. I'm busy, I'm excited, and I'm happy. Merry Christmas!

It has been so lovely to 'chat' to you over the last few months Mel. Thank you for inspiring posts and beautiful pictures. Christmas eve is my favourite day too, happy to be at home with my husband this year, sad that my son is working today, missing my mother but looking forward to my brother visiting tomorrow. Truly a day filled with everything! A Merry Christmas from my home to your home x

I echo all those sentiments. Tomorrow will go by in a blur and it is lovely to know that when you go to bed tonight, all is under control, and you can just anticipate the excitement that is going to be there when you wake up in the morning. All that hard work in the last week worth every moment!
Enjoy your Christmas day and I wish you lots of fun, luck and happiness over the whole Christmas holiday x
