Celebrating blog friendships blog hop

Dear blog,

Thank you for all the pleasure you have brought me since we first got to know each other back in August 2009. I think our relationship is pretty good, don't you? I know I was a little nervous and shy to start with, but as I've felt more comfortable with you I've felt able to open up and share more of myself, and I think we're in a good place right now, don't you agree?

Thank you for always being there for me, any time of the day, any day of the year, whatever the weather, whatever else is going on. Well, the occasional technical hitches aside! But on those rare occasions that we can't reach each other it isn't ever your fault, and I know you find it as frustrating as I do.

Thank you for enabling me to develop my writing and photography skills, and encouraging me to share the results. I can see the progress I've made in both these areas, and I've gained so much confidence - and a lot of this is down to you.

Thank you for being so willing to share. Through you, I've got to know interesting, fun, caring, talented, creative people all over the world. They have inspired me, entertained me, supported me, challenged me... and yes, at times distracted me! Though perhaps really I should say that they've given me an excuse to distract myself?! But blog, thank you for understanding that sharing all of these wonderful friends doesn't diminish or detract from our relationship. On the contrary, it makes me value you all the more.

Thank you so much, blog. I look forward to a long and happy relationship with you.

Mel xxx

You know, there is so much I want to say about the friends I've made in blogland, but I'm not sure I can actually put it into words. I may have tried in the above letter, but I just don't think my writing is up to this task. I just hope that the letter gives you some idea of what you all mean to me! If I felt less, perhaps I could write more....

I'd like to offer a little prize to someone who comments on this post. It's just a little goodie pack of a few papercrafting supplies - a couple of sets of pyrimage pieces, a kit to make two decoupage cards (die-cut pieces so no fiddly cutting out!), plus some pretty papers, a few ribbons, some buttons, some stickers.... Whatever I can find to include! If you'd like to be included in the draw, just leave a comment here to say hello :-) All comments must be left by 12 midday GMT on Wednesday 10th November - I'll announce the winner as soon as possible after that time. Good luck! *Edited to say: Giveaway now closed*
You'll also definitely be wanting to enter the grand prize draw over on Jo's blog, for which you'll need this letter: "R". You need to put all of the key words and letters together to make the correct phrase to be able to enter! So you'll need to visit us all in the correct order - here are the links you need:

As you can see from the list, from here you need to visit Amy - I'm thrilled to be linking to her, it seems particularly appropriate for this blog hop, because along with Clair she is one of the closest friends I've made through blogging. While Clair lives very close to me (as we discovered by recognising each other's usernames on a local Freecycle site) which means we've become 'real life' friends and meet up regularly, Amy lives the other side of the world from me so our friendship has developed through (frequent!) emails and (less frequent!) little packages in the post - but she is no less a 'real friend' because of that :-) So, friends who are reading this, thank you for visiting me, and can I please invite you to next call on my friend Amy?

Wow, this is a Great Post, Mel! I love your novel way of presenting your ideas... It's so wonderful how everyone has a different way of looking at the same subject; and how everyone can tell a different story.

That's a fab scrap page. I love the way you've used colour on a white background, stamping and paint, lined envelope, the lovely row of gauzy roses and the colourful paper strips. It just works perfectly. The letter is just brilliant!

Thanks for joining our party - I hope you have a great time (I am so far!)
