Icing and ICT

Here's what I learnt on 20th September:
  • Oops! I can't rely on the radio news bulletin being on time as a cue to get up...
  • Interesting. My coffee of choice at Costa now appears to be a Fairtrade espresso rather than a small skinny Fairtrade gingerbread latte....
  • My ring finger is now size N (but they only have P in stock of the ring I want - and a slightly looser fit is more comfortable and less likely to aggravate my eczema)
  • Don't try to do too much in the morning before working in the afternoon!!
  • I like dressing up smart for work :-)
  • Aaaaargh ICT!! lol! Teaching ICT is an interesting variation on the Maths I teach most, but relying on technology can add to the grey hairs!!
  • A class that you teach once a week in the morning can feel like a totally different class when you teach them in the afternoon
  • It's so nice to be wearing a wedding ring again :-)
(My eczema had flared up so badly that I couldn't wear my wedding, engagement and eternity rings :-( I wondered if maybe it was partly because they were too small - hence the trip today to find a cheap, larger size band as an experiment to see if I can tolerate wearing it. If it works, I'll look into having my 'real' rings enlarged)
  • I still can't make pretty cupcakes!! I made up my own icing recipe and it was too soft to hold the piped shape.... But hey, they taste good so who cares if they don't look beautiful?
  • Oh dear, I wasn't too keen on the school we went to look round this evening, and neither was The Boy. It doesn't feel like the right place for him. But we didn't have much choice to start with and now we have even fewer schools we like. Gosh, this process is stressful!

Hope the bigger size ring works, I'd feel naked without my rings

Good luck with hunting for the right school. I hope you can alter your rings without too much trouble. x

If it makes you feel any better, I have had my "real" rings sized up twice already! And I still don't wear them in the summer because the humidity makes my fingers swell and I can't get them off!

I really hope the ring thing works out - let us know how you get on.

I used to love dressing up for work too. In fact I really miss it - now all I need is a pair of really ols jeans and my hard hat, it's not the same thing at all

Hope you find a good school placement for the boy. We've had very good luck with the local schools.

AAAaaaarghhhh!!!! I have just read through this post & scrolling down, came face to face with my worst phobia!!! My heart is now racing & I need to lie down!!!

OK...palpitations subsiding...I am sans wedding ring at the mo & am having to have all my rings enlarged too. In my case it's arthritis!! That makes me sound ancient!!! But my knuckle on that one finger (& on the little finger on my right hand!) is getting bigger & getting them on & off requires handcream/soap!!!

As for the cakes...they look scrumptious to me & I bet they were good to eat...unlike our Harrods bought 'Lola' birthday cupcakes, which looked perfect & were as dry as a bone!!

Happy school hunting! Not a process I enjoyed!!

Can't imagine taking my wedding ring off, hope you get it all sorted very soon. My husband has to go into hospital on Tuesday for a shoulder operation and can't get his wedding ring off, it's going to have to be taped up!
Sorry to hear the school wasn't up to your expectations - I really feel for you. Fingers firmly crossed you get what he wants xxx

Hey, Mel, have you ever been tested for food alergies? My boss (chiropractor) swears that eczema is brought on by food alergies - most likely wheat or gluten or dairy. I know you are alergic to nuts...so I just thought I'd throw this out there for you.

And, I think your cupcakes are lovely. I'd have no problem gobbling one of them down if it were set in front of me! :o)

Mel you have so much going on at the moment!
I know how the eczema feels - mines on the right hand at the moment and rings would be so annoying. Good luck with the school looking, sounds so tricky.
My SIL-to-be and I spent yesterday trying to ice small bikkies for potential wedding favours .... erm, that idea has been firmly scrapped - cake/biscuit decorators we are NOT!

I've just read through all the comments and I think Deb is certainly on to something ... it is really obvious in The Four Year Old when she has been eating stuff that she's intolerant to ... intolerances are so hard to work out though - good luck!

I used to break out under my rings, but a slightly narrower band made all the difference. No, I don't have the original band I was married in, but I have a ring I can wear.
