And we're into September :-) This was the day we - me, The Doctor, The Children, The Parents-in-Law and The Mother - went to watch a county cricket match (as mentioned here and here).

I packed up a huge picnic for us - sandwiches of many different kinds, mini sausage rolls, cocktail sausages, picnic eggs, Pringles, homemade tortilla chips, home-popped popcorn, lots of fruit, banana bread.....

We love picnics! I'm curious about what Snack Eggs are.

Inspired as usual by your P365 :)

Thank you :-)

Picnic eggs or snack eggs are like mini versions of Scotch eggs (which doesn't help if you don't know what they are either...!)

A Scotch egg is a whole hardboiled egg covered in sausagemeat then coated in breadcrumbs before being fried or baked to crisp up the breadcrumb coating. Picnic eggs are very similar but instead of a whole boiled egg in the centre they have a filling of egg mayonnaise - they're much smaller and more manageable! I don't think I could eat a whole Scotch egg but I can manage a picnic egg now and then as a treat :-)

Wow!! Now that's what I call a picnic!!

Back in the day I used to tolerate an afternoon at Hereford cricket club...but only for the teas!! (...& a bit of sunbathing if the weather permitted...plus it scored me brownie points with the boyfriend of the time!!!!)

Hi Mel! I love your blog! Learn something new:) This will be one of mine for the day...or the only one maybe! Would it be ok to use your pic of the picnic eggs? Or could you direct me to a site that would have them?? Thanks!!
