We did something a bit different on August 12th! We took a trip up north to see the Dolomites - which were just gorgeous :-)

And with this being an area where Italian culture and Austrian overlaps, I had to try a piece of apple strudel:

That strudel looks awesome! We had some of the best pastry ever in Vienna. Although Budapest was a close second.

Gosh, that area of Italy has so much physical diversity. Is a slice of 'real' strudel far better than anything you would get in the UK?

Love apple strudel! I'm laughing at Helena feeling the need to yodel - maybe I'll join her :)

lol at my yodelling friends!

Sadly the strudel was disappointing; it was the piece at the end, so there was more pastry than filling and it was a bit dry :-( But since Project 365 isn't only about the good stuff, I figured I'd include the strudel anyway!

I ate strudel in Austria on several occasions last year and it was always amazing, so I think I was just unlucky with this piece...

Mmmmm, give me the piece at the end every time. the rest has too much apple in it - fruit is healthy right? I don't do fruit or veg if I can avoid it because I always seem to have such an adverse reaction to it.

That photo is stunning! I love the clouds hanging over the mountains, and the lush greens are beautiful. The strudel is looking pretty good too.
