Freebie! My first digital template

I can't believe how much my digital scrapping is coming on. I'm far from being an expert and I know I still have an awful lot to learn, but a week ago I was mainly using templates to produce my layouts - today, thanks to some clear instructions from Amy, I produced a template of my own! :-)

I based it on my Check, Mate! layout, which was in turn based on a layout from Shimelle's LYPLYP class (I'd wandered far enough from the sketch that I don't feel like I've stolen her work - but want to make the credit clear too!)

I'm rather pleased with it :-) Except that, looking at it now, I wish I'd outlined and/or labelled the bits that are for photos.... I've designed it for either two 4x6" photos or one panoramic 4x12" photo with two smaller photos in the top left, as in my original layout, but that isn't clear from the image above.....

I decided to use the template myself to try to create a digi version of the paper layout, to check that it all worked OK. It seemed to:

though I think I prefer the paper original in this instance:

I'm thrilled to have learnt this skill though! (Thanks Amy! x) So much so, that to celebrate, I'd like to offer the template to any reader who'd like it. I *think* I've managed to set up a download link via 4shared here, but let me know if you have any trouble with it. And please, if you do use it, let me see your page - I'd love to see what people can do with my template! Oh, just note that you'll need to delete the panoramic photo layer if using 4x6" photos, and the 4x6" photo layers if using a panoramic photo :-)

Absolutely AWESOME Mel! Just watch out though, it is really addictive once you get going ... I love how you have replicated your elements and papers to match the original :-) Ok, I will make time today to use this little beauty - guess what? By using your template you will have forced me into tilting a photo ..... oh goodness, an embellishment on the weekend and now a tilt, lol!

Wow, Mel! You're really tackling digi! I wouldn't even know how to start making a template. Congrats on your new skills :)

I like both versions. And I'm going to try to resist getting into designing my own since I certainly do not need another addiction. I can barely keep up with the ones I have!

Well done, it look fabulous.

I tried to scrapbook last year, and got the first 6 months of my girls life scrapbooked, but haven't touched it since. I've got the supplies, but not the time.

Now Digi Scrapbooking is something I could get into :) I think you may have inspired me to give it ago :)
