Digi double

I'm so loving the LYPLYP class! :-) I want to keep working through my 'to scrap' photo pile, but I also want to try out a few digi ideas. I'm using templates to get me started while I figure out how to do certain things for myself!

I got this template from the lovely Kate (thanks, hun! x)

I love that this template allows me to showcase one big photo and has plenty of space for journaling too :-) I made use of the extra journaling space round the edge to list Terry Pratchett's titles, while the block in the centre is all about how much I like reading them!

And then I found a shot from a trip we took to Albert Dock at Liverpool a while back. I felt that the busy background in the top half detracted from the subject of the photo and I had a couple of ideas of how I might try to edit the shot to improve that, but then one of Shimelle's prompts suggested taking a strong colour from the photo and using it in the layout and it occurred to me that doing so might help to bring out the boat more. So I gave it a go!

This template is by Misty Cato. I used the dropper tool to pick up colours from the photo to fill each 'paper strip' and the photo frame, then added texture with the notepaper effect. A title and a few drop shadows finished it off:

I could get into this digi scrapping! :-)

That second one has worked so well.....it doesn't look too busy at all now....I think 'dropping' in [whatever the hell that may be!] the same colours works perfectly.

Digi scrapping scares me so I am very impressed by these layouts! I love the way you can choose a colour from your photo and pick it up to use elsewhere on the page. Very clever!

I keep looking at other people's digi scrapbooking and some of them are amazing (loving yours by the way) but not sure where to start really! I need a 'how to...' class for the complete beginner!!

Both of these are wonderful, but the second one is so striking. The first template is awesome. I love how you did the titles around the outside.
