Birthday cake

Another layout, (fairly loosely) based on one of Shimelle's sketches from the LYPLYP class :-) I had in mind a sort of recipe layout for these photos, but the cakes were what I made for The Girl's birthday this year and the birthday cake layout just came together when I saw the use of columns in this sketch!

The papers came from a birthday themed pad but it was only 8x8 so I had to join strips to make them long enough - the die-cut candles, which I'd intended to use as an embellishment anyway, help to hide the joins! And I'd run out of the letter 'e' on my sticker sheet so I trimmed an 'a' and used it upside down. Shhh, don't tell, will you? ;-)

In other news, yesterday I signed up for Cathy Zielske's Me: The Abridged Version ready for September - it's to be my birthday present from The Mother (thanks Mum! x) Anyone else planning to follow this class?

Am very tempted by the class,Mel...especially as I've got a discount code....and usually try to avoid scrapbooking anything to do with me!!
Love your take on Shimelle's sketch....and I'll remember that little tip for the 'e'!

See you in class Mel! You will love MeTAV - I took it last year and am taking it again this year to finish what I started. Cathy Z. is so much fun!

I've heard fabulous things about Cathy Z's classes! I'm passing on this one, though - too many other things on my plate (plus I don't use digital templates which seem to form the basis of the class).
Can't wait to see what you make,
Rinda

You really wouldn't be able to tell that the "e" wasn't a real "e". I did Cathy's Design Your Life and she is a great teacher, very enthusiastic and very funny.

Love the papers in the layout--just perfect. Reminds me I have just a few pages left to do in Sarah's birthday album. I'm probably signing up for Cathy's class as well. I started a similar project after reading the book and need to get it finished. This might be the key, although the format is very different. I have to go back through my notes and decide how I want to do this. Cathy's Design Your Life was the best scrapbooking class I ever took.

The class sounds interesting but I'll see how the book inspires me first.

Great layout. I see no joins ;-)
And we would never have guessed about the 'e' if you hadn't owned up!

I have these papers! Have had that paper stack for years.. love how you've used it. The cupcakes look yum.

I'm planning to be really busy in Sept so I doubt I'll sign up. I'm sure it'll be great though.

I took MeTAV last year, with plans of not finishing, and I achieved my goal. I'm thinking of signing up again, and having another crack at it, along with a whole bunch of great classes coming up in the next couple of months!
