On 4th July The Doctor and I went to a barbecue. (It wasn't deliberately intended to tie in with Independence Day but when it became apparent that this was the best date for it we embraced the American theme!) The evening ended with a firework display. Oh, and a footnote to the first in the queue thing?! I was prompt to the barbecue too... Think I might be getting a slight reputation for this, because when the curate announced that the desserts were ready he held me down in my chair to give others a chance to get there before me!!

Earlier that day we'd been round to The Mother's for Sunday lunch. For pudding she gave us this rather yummy chocolate torte:

I see you subscribe to the 'after me you're first' idea of buffet eating ;-)
You could always take your camera with you and use the excuse you need to get in first to photograph the wonderful display before anyone cuts into it .....

The fireworks photo is very striking, and the chocolate torte looks decadent!

Could The Mother please supply a recipe?

That mean, mean curate. Did The Children play quietly at chess and make you a little cross-stitch sampler while you neglected them to read my blog post?

In fact, that man shouldn't be a curate at all, he should be a parking warden.
