July 3rd: another weekend, another wedding! Isn't the cake lovely? It was made by a friend of mine (who's also a friend of the couple). It tasted as good as it looks!!
We had a light meal of chicken stir-fry at home before going to the reception - it didn't stop me being first in the queue at the buffet though ;-)

What a great cake! Was it traditional fruit? The work on it is amazing - I have a girlfriend who makes and decorates wedding cakes and I cannot believe the work that goes into them.
That cake is phenomenal!

Hi guys, thanks for your comments :-) The cake had a couple of traditional fruit layers and a couple of sponge - which was great for me, because my nut allergy means I have to be careful with fruit cake and can't eat marzipan!
The icing was fondant, soft and sweet; to be honest I find fondant icing a little TOO sweet, so I make sure I get a piece that only has icing on the top, not an edge piece!
Wow, I love that top layer especially. It's beautiful.
That cake is amazing! really simple but looks so elegant! Abi xxx
