Lies, it's all lies I tell you...

A little long while ago the lovely K kindly bestowed upon me a blog award:

I didn't forget exactly, but I had so many other blog posts lined up, projects to share etc that sharing this kind award slipped down the list rather.

Dear K, nothing daunted, also thought of me when passing on this award:

I was all ready to talk about this one then I got into boot camp and suddenly had lots to share again! But the last couple of boot camp prompts haven't immediately 'spoken' to me and as I want my photograph to illustrate my journaling rather than my journaling to be about the photograph, I'm waiting to be certain what I want to write about first. Ideal opportunity to return to these - K, I'm sorry it's taken me so long! xx

(I should also mention that my friend Jo also thought of me when passing on the latter award. Should I be getting a complex that my blog friends think of me as a good liar?!)

I'm afraid I'm going to break the rules a bit with these. I'm more than happy to thank K and Jo, I'm so touched that you gave me these awards - you both made me smile, thank you! :-) But I'm going to mix up and combine the requirements of the awards a bit; I'm going to share a few things about myself and one of those things will not be true. Can you find the untruth?
  1. I secretly would love to have a tattoo. It'll never happen (because of my needle phobia) but I sometimes imagine what motif I might have, and where.
  2. My first car was called Bob.
  3. My second car was called Murray.
  4. My third car was called Bruce.
  5. My fourth car was called Sid.
  6. My fifth car is called Vectra.
  7. Despite my maths degree, I don't know all my times tables. There are several of them (eg 6x7) that I have to work out every time, I just can't remember them.
  8. I rarely did my homework during primary school and lower secondary.
  9. I was never in detention at all at school.
  10. I got sacked from the school choir.
Which one's the lie then? Any ideas? :-)

These are so fun. I would guess number 10 is not true; I believe I was the only one every kicked out of chorus for inability to sing.

Not a clue. Although somehow, I can imagine you getting detention, so I'm going to guess #9.

I'm guessing 6....simply because Vectra just doesn't go with your other car names!!

If I have to guess at all, I'm with Jacky!

Sorry, Rinda, but I did get kicked out of choir - for non-attendance (a friend and I skived off once too often...)

Cheri, I don't know what you mean!! ;-) But no, I never got put into detention.

Jacky and Sian, I can see your point, but actually our new car is indeed called Vectra.

Anyone else have any idea which one it is?!

Hmmm, you see I had visions of you in detention for non attendance at choir and not knowing your 7 times table (that one is just SO hard!) So now I am going for the tattoo. But I think it's a lie because the reason you don't like your photo taken is because you already have many tattoos (more than David Beckham) and you're ashamed to let us see them all ;-)

I say #8 (:

I'd guess 7 becasue I've heard my maths geek friends insist on the difference between advanced maths and arithmetic so many times

Hmmm, I'm guessing number 6 :)

I'm guessing it's the car called Murray ...

Sorry Jo and Deb - I do have a secret hankering after a tattoo. (Not secret any more, I guess!) It'll never happen though, I'm just too scared of needles....

Naddie, to my shame, #8 is also true. My own pupils can never get away with any excuses - not only have I heard them all before, most of them I've used myself too!

Helena, I'm rubbish at my times tables. Luckily I can work them out so quickly that it's almost as good as if I know them anyway...

Sharyn and Denise, sorry, you're not right either - my current car (the new one!) is called Vectra, and I have fond memories of Murray the Metro :-)

There aren't many choices left lol - anyone going to play detective and figure it out?!

Okay, so if you "rarely did my homework" (#8), how could you "never be in detention" (#9)? One way or another, these don't add up... unless you school caned you for not doing homework!
I think #9 is a BIG PORK PIE!

This post is tooo funny, Mel! All those cars' names! Sacked from school choir...

We used to go round the room, in the wait for our regular tv programme to start, reciting our Times Tables. If you got it wrong, you had to sit down (OH, the Shame!). I know all my tables and almost never get it wrong (can you see how big my head has got?). This was almost my only achievement in Maths... I was passably good at Algebra and managed to get a good Pass grade in Maths on my IT course at college... otherwise I was a dead loss. Yay for Tables!

Oh ...... big disappointment Mel :( I so wanted it to be the one about maths & not knowing your 7x tables!!!

Ok, Bob,Sid or Bruce then? My bet is on Bob or Bruce ... just hedging my bets of course!

I have no idea, but would take a stab at 2 or 4 x

I can help you a bit by telling you that Mel's first car was definitely called Bob!

I am shocked by the homework confession.

yay, you did it! Hmmm, I go for number 5, Sid, it just doesnt ring right.

7 times tables are an obimination, except 7x1, 7x2, 7x7, 7x10, & 7x11 just coz they are easy ;)

I got a bit excited when I saw that award, because it was my inspiration for this

And with a lovely symmetry, K, who first gave me this award, is the one who guessed the right answer - The Doctor wouldn't let me name my 4th car at all, so it certainly wasn't called Sid! Thanks for playing along, everyone! xx
