On June 15th it was necessary to buy a new pair of school shoes for The Girl! I knew this pair was on its way out but I'd hoped they'd last till the end of term - what's the betting she outgrows the new pair by September? *sigh!* I managed to earn a few 'Bad Mother' points by sending her to school in shoes that actually fell apart so she had to wear her pumps (daps/plimsolls/gym shoes/other regional or national variation) for the rest of the day....

(Yes, they are boys' shoes. So is her new pair. She won't go near the girls' section....)

And that day I snacked on an oatmeal raisin cookie:

The shoes are a seriousl problem here - feet grow like weeds!

Love that she wears boy's shoes. That's a memory that she'll keep for a long time!
Great pix.

Why do they grow out of school shoes just before the end of summer term? It's almost as if they do it on purpose ;-)
Sounds like you are going to have to do some Chinese foot binding during the holidays!

Our girl had a uniform check in school yesterday and they were all told their shoes were too flat and they needed a higher heel. What?!

"Gutties" is our regional word.

I'm laughing at the idea of the Chinese foot binding :)

Always the way with shoes and school uniform ... right near the end of term or just after term has started, in the case of a growth spurt and, thus, new trousers/skirt needed. My sister had to get my nephew 4 pairs of trousers during his last term at primary school. And, yes, you've guessed it, the high school has a different colour unifrom to the primary school.

Hmm... my boy has recently had new shoes. His feet used to grow only once a year (!) - in October! Once I'd caught onto that, I used to make him wear last year's school shoes, til they stopped fitting him! But he had a growth spurt in May and had to have new shoes... now he's grown 2" and his trousers are short on him. He can have new ones next term. If he grows any taller, I'll have to get new shirts and sweaters too - even though they still fit round the chest. Hmmm.. weeds!
