Riesenrad

When we visited Vienna last summer we spent a day in the Prater district and had a ride on the ferris wheel (Riesenrad). The views from the top were *amazing* :-) The view of the Riesenrad itself from the ground was pretty spectacular though, especially with the sun behind it!

I was sent a free enlargement of this shot and wanted to 'do' something with it before putting it on display. Then the Something From Almost Nothing class started :-) This page came about because of that class, even though it didn't in the end use anything from the class!

(Blurry pic, sorry - didn't realise till I'd uploaded it, and by then the light was too poor to take a better shot!)

I used some Martha Stewart stamps that I won ages ago, and which made me think of fairgrounds. I stamped straight onto the photo using StazOn ink, and when a couple of the letters didn't leave a clear impression I decided to make that work by distressing and curling the edges - think old circus poster that's starting to peel away from the board! I stuck the photo to the cardstock with double-sided tape but left an unstuck 'border' so that the edges could lift and curl away from the background.

I remember that ferris wheel very well. You've captured it very well and it makes me want to go back to Vienna for the summer. Oh yes!

great idea for a large photo to make it like a faded poster

I love how this turned out. We were in Vienna once; the kids loved the amusement park.
