Proud of myself!

There was a knock on the door just now. "Good," I thought. "Hope it's the guy come to quote for replastering our bedroom ceiling. Or maybe the guy delivering the new computer for The Doctor's study."

It wasn't. It was the guy delivering my order from The Book People and our regular wine club case. (Just hope the other guys turn up before I have to go collect The Children from school....)

And why am I proud of myself? Ladies and gentlemen, I opened the box of books first!!

Ahh, the promise in those uncracked spines, those unturned pages :-)

Most of the books were birthday presents for The Girl (who, by the way, is so excited about all her comments on her post yesterday! Thanks for making her day! x) but above you can see the set of Michael Palins I ordered for myself; after our recent trip I've got the travel bug!

But oh, also, the promise in those unopened bottles..... ;-)

Have to say I'd have opened the books first as well....but unlike everybody else in my house I'm not a wine lover.

There's something about settling yourself down in a comfy chair and opening up the first page of a new book.

With a nice glass of wine in your other hand of course ;-)

My daughter would swoon over those brand new books too, and I'm swooning over that lovely box of wine! ;o)

Nothing like a stack of new books and a box of wine! I was unfamiliar with Michael Palin so I checked him out on Amazon. Always good to know about a good travel author.

Books would have been my first opening - I don't drink ;o). Love getting parcels from Amazon! Hoping my next one will be a hard drive!

There is nothing like a book and a bottle opened together.

I just recently read Micheal Palin's New Europe. I've got another one waiting in my audio queue but I can't recall which one

I think you're amazing to open the books first if wine arrives as well! I remember DD and I sniffing the brochures from Uni as she opened them!!!!! Nothing like the smell of a new book!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the comments on my blog!
