Chipping away...

...at the last few Something From Almost Nothing prompts, I came to the ideas for using up chipboard. 'But I don't really have any chipboard,' I cried! (Silently, in my head. Though The Family are used to such random outbursts anyway.) Except for a chipboard alphabet that I rather love but the remaining letters have set me quite a challenge to think up a title. Oh, and a larger alphabet that appears to still be in its packaging. And a middle-sized alpha and number set. And a few circles (goodie! I can try the make-your-own-buttons idea!) and a solitary flower shape. And a little set of arrows and frames. And some more arrows, flourishes and words. And a long-forgotten packet of 2" squares.

So no, I don't have much chipboard....

As soon as I found the 2" squares I knew where this layout was going. I already scrapped the enlargement of this photo but still had the standard-sized original and was waiting for the right idea to strike!

Each piece of photo is mounted onto a chipboard square and then sanded round the edges. I was tempted to leave it at just that (the photo speaks for itself!) but it did need a little 'something'; first I thought of doodling round the edge of the cardstock but then decided to journal there instead. The journaling talks of the beautiful view from the Riesenrad and some of the things you can see, but then adds that the view of the Riesenrad is just as beautiful!

I love the use of the chipboard squares for texture on this page, Mel! Very nice how you sanded around the edges as well - noticed that right away. I also really like the journaling done around the edge of your page. It really pulls the whole thing together. Nicely done!

Enjoy your weekend! xo

That's awesome! I have one more photo I want to put in my favorite photo album, and I'm wondering if this type of treatment might work.
thanks for the idea!
