On March 30th we had a trip to Sighisoara, which turned out to be a 3 hour drive from Cluj!! (We learnt fairly quickly that Romanian time is not necessarily the same as English time, and I don't mean the different time zone!) Sighisoara is a well-preserved medieval town towards the south of Transylvania, so you can imagine The Doctor's excitement ;-) It's also of interest because Vlad Dracul lived there for a few years, during which time his son Vlad Tepes was probably born; Tepes of course later became known as Vlad the Impaler, and also had the name 'Draculea' (son of Dracul).... Luckily there are only a few touches of this, I would have been disappointed if it had been taken over by Dracula merchandise when it's so beautiful in its own right. Anyway, more of this and more photos will follow! My photo of the day shows a striking building with a roof full of 'eyes' :-)

And look what I had for lunch that day lol!! I hope you can get a sense of the scale (see the glass in the background?), it's an entire loaf filled with soup... (And it cost the equivalent of about £2.20!)

Lovely photo, it reminds me quite of bit of Budapest. Yum that soup looks very very nice. So jealous you went here, my partner really really wanted to visit this town.

Can't wait to see more photo's.

The soup looks great. I had something similar in Dorset a stew in a loaf. The loaf was cooked in a large baked bean can.

The first thing I thought when I saw your photo was that it looked like it had rows of eyes in the roof - I see you thought the same ;o).
In South Africa they do a "Bunny Chow" (don't know where the name came from) which is half a loaf of bread hollowed out and filled with curry - your soup picture reminded me of them :o)

My son's immediate reaction was "Transylvania"? That's where Dracula came from!
But it's a beautiful place... I so want to go there!

What a lunch - I would love that soup too! Inside the bread... such a clever idea.
