So, there were 23 entries. I arranged 23 videos in an upright position in a large circle on the floor. (Yes, we still own videos. We rarely watch them, but can't quite bring ourselves to get rid of some of our old favourites.) The Hamster, inside his ball, began in the middle of the circle. I gave him the challenge of seeing how many videos he could knock down in 2 minutes.
For the first 30 seconds or so the answer looked like it was going to be 'none'. (I guess in that case I'd have kept the prize!!) The Hamster trundled around, snuffling interestedly at some of the videos, especially the Doctor Who episodes and The Doctor's Southampton Football Club collection. (I thought The Hamster would have better taste in football teams. *sigh*...)
But then he went for The Hunchback of Notre Dame, followed by both Southampton vids in quick succession (perhaps he was just sizing them up?) and a music video by The Mission. Then just as the last seconds ticked away and I lifted the camera for the 'after' shot, he took out Johnny English and Les Miserables, too.
So in 2 minutes, The Hamster knocked down 6 videos. The 6th entry to the giveaway came from Rachel, who shared the lovely quotation
"The most beautiful discovery true friends make is that they can grow separately without growing apart "(by Elizabeth Foley)Congratulations Rachel! I'll put together a little goodie bag for you and I hope you have lots of fun with it :-)
And thanks so much to everyone who suggested quotations for me! I shall spend this evening writing them on cards to go inside my tin, ready to send off to my friend for her birthday on Thursday (Happy Birthday C! x)

We at random.org would like to headhunt your hamster for a lucrative consultancy role. What sort of salary would he be looking for?
Dear random.org c/o Mise, The Hamster is generally happy to be paid peanuts (with a few sunflower seeds thrown in now and then.)
Hahaha thats hilarious!! Congrats to your winner... Hhhmm maybe I should consider checking out Petsmart for hamster bribes.... ;)
Yeah! I think your hamster is brilliant. Thank you xx
OMG, Mel, that is too cute! LOL.
Congrats, Rachel!
This is just too lovely!! Do you think the Hamster knows he's now a celebrity? Maybe you should check out 'Pets At Home' for some cool Hamster shades...we wouldn't want him to be mobbed now would we?!!!
A word of warning for random.org. Although the hamster might work for peanuts, his agent (aka Mel) will probably expect a hefty introduction fee. Don't fall into her innocent looking trap!
The Mother

That was just so funny, Mel! I've been in stitches. I see Horsey of High in the Sky has a rival in the Giveaway Prize Picker stakes.
too funny!!! an ingenious selection process! :D
If the machines for the National Lottery ever break down and they need an alternative way of choosing the lucky numbers, I hope they have Hamster on speed dial to take over!
For some reason this reminds me of Gladiators. Hmm. Fantastic way to choose winners though!
Aww bless his furry cotton sox!!
Well he certainly got on a roll!!
