Friends... A giveaway!

***Edited to say: Giveaway now CLOSED! Winner will be announced soon***

Here's another little project I've made for the Something From Almost Nothing class. This time the challenge was to find a long-neglected item and decide to just get on and USE IT at last!! I found this little (2x3") tin:

I bought this little chap about 3 years ago, knowing that I'd make a 'special something' with it. But not having the faintest idea what that special something might be.... Which (naturally) meant that it sat there in a drawer and got forgotten about. *sniff!* (Such a sad, yet familiar, story!)

So I did what Shimelle told me ('cos I'm a The Good, Obedient Type) and decided I'd use it at last, and just got on with it. I found some pretty co-ordinating paper scraps and a few metal bits and pieces I'd rediscovered for an earlier prompt. I trimmed a strip to go round the edge of the tin and a piece to cover the lid, lightly sanding and then inking the edges for definition. I then recreated the paper ruffle that I'd liked from this layout (with the paper strip being likewise sanded and inked before being 'ruffled') and attached a metal word on top with staples, layering it over a heart die-cut from an old Coke can; I also punched a flower from another paper scrap and gave it a brad centre (to make the dot for the 'i'), mounting the whole lot onto the lid. I rather like it :-)

So, about the giveaway. My plan is to fill the tin with little cards on which I'll write or print quotations on the theme of friendship and then add little embellishments. I've found a few suitable quotations but I'd like to ask for your help! Do you know any good friendship quotations? If you share one with me via the comments, I'll stick your name in a draw for this rather gorgeous notebook and a few random little goodies to go with it:

Small print: One entry per person even if you share more than one quotation (just because that makes my life easier!); you must actually share a quotation to be eligible for the draw; entrants from overseas welcome; giveaway closes on Tuesday at 6pm GMT and I'll announce the winner as soon as possible after that; The Hamster may or may not be involved in picking the winner (it depends what mood he's in on Tuesday).

Gotta go with my favorite (I heard it's actually a Jewish proverb):
"A friend is someone who will help you move. A real friend is someone who will help you move a body."
I believe its on one of the ATC's you won.

I love so much of what Kahlil Gibran said. Here is his On Friendship especially "And in the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures." Or "Your friend is your needs answered." And finally, but with context, "Seek him always with hours to live."

I love the box. One day, will you tell us more about what "die-cut lettering" in your spreads means?

That has turned out so well. I'll have to come back if I can think of a suitable quote!

One of my friends gave me a fridge magnet that said "A good friend is hard to find. Luckily, I know where to find you."
I thought that was so nice..

Beautiful job Mel - here's one for you...

A true friend is like a four-leaf clover; hard to find and lucky to have.

I'm partial to winnie the pooh quotes -

“If you live to be 100, I hope I live to be 100 minus 1 day, so I never have to live without you.”

“Piglet sidled up to Pooh from behind. "Pooh," he whispered.

"Yes, Piglet?"

"Nothing," said Piglet, taking Pooh's paw, "I just wanted to be sure of you."”

“It is more fun to talk with someone who doesn't use long, difficult words but rather short, easy words like "What about lunch?"”

beautiful tin!

Cute tin! I totally need to take this class and start using all of my collected stuff. Some fave friendship quotes:

"A true friend is someone who thinks you're a good egg even though he knows that you are slightly cracked" (Bernard Meltzer)

"Life is partly what we make it, and partly what is made by the friends we choose." (Tennessee Williams)

"If friends were flowers, I'd pick you." (Unknown, at least I don't know who said that)

"True friendship isn't about being there when it's convenient; it's about being there when't it's not."

A good friend is someone who you can call at 2am for bail money; a best friend is sitting beside you saying "Boy that was fun!"

My bff and I used to go by the first and then we heard the second part. It totally fits us! We are so much trouble together.
