The lovely Kate is a talented scrapper who often 'goes digi', and even produces her own templates. Every so often she gives away one of her templates on her blog, and I was lucky enough to win 'Beryllium'. (I should maybe explain that Kate has named the range Liberty Elements, so each template is named after a different element from the periodic table!)
Now, I'm very new to digi scrapping, so I've kept my layout very simple, but I look forward to using it again and again in different ways as I grow more confident with all things digital. Once I remembered how to clip a photo or patterned paper to the layer below (I won't say how long that took me.... Ahem!!) it was very easy to use, and I love the big journaling spot; as soon as I saw the template I saw how great it would be to tell a story. And on the day I saw it on Kate's blog, there was a particular story I really wanted to tell based on the events of that morning. Because it involves a friend of mine and gets quite personal, I've blurred out the journaling, but I hope you can see enough to appreciate how lovely the template is :-)
And if you want to see how an experienced digi scrapper can make much more of the template then a total beginner like myself can, check out Kate's own version here!
Also, and this is well overdue, I must thank the wonderful Jacky for her kind blog award to me!
In return, I need to list 10 things that make me happy...
- My faith - knowing God and His love for me.
- The Doctor - I can't even put into words what he means to me.
- The Children. (They also make me mad, cross, despairing....!)
- Teaching - especially when I see children have those lightbulb moments :-)
- Friends - old, new, local, worldwide, in person, by email, etc, etc!
- Chocolate. Nuff said.
- Creating - I just love to make stuff :-)
- A really good book - especially if it's the first one in a series.
- A really good TV or film adaptation of a really good book.
- Blogging. And visiting other blogs. And receiving comments from visitors to my blog.
- (I know this is cheating!!) Being voted for on Shimelle's blog....

LOL - when I read "I'm almost embarrassed to confess to yet another win..." my first thought was "WHAT?!?!" hahaha. Good for you, Mel! :o) I like the digi-layout. I'm new to digi as well...still not sure if I want to completely "go there" or not.
Have a great day!
great layout! Does Kate sell her templates somewhere? I couldn't find any link on her site.
Well....I certainly wouldn't know you were a beginner from that LO......great layout.I'm determined to dip my toes in the water with digi scrapping.
Oh...and love your 10....er 11....things.
Well, now I might be biased and all - and although Kate's layout is great - I like yours better. The colours and the photographs are perfect x
Lovely layout! Great use for some of those 365 photos.

It's a great digital template and your photos suit it really well.
Great award too!
Great digi layout Mel, I keep meaning to try this but I am a bit clueless when it comes to digi scrapbooking. I love the pictures you have used for it.
