Winning Ways - Part 1

***Gloat Alert***Gloat Alert***Gloat Alert***

Yep, I have a few wins to share.... Sorry! ;-)

First up, and much overdue, I have to say a big big thank you to the lovely, talented, and sadly currently poorly sick, Rinda :-) I was fortunate enough to win a giveaway on her blog, and she sent me a selection of rather special ATCs that she'd made:

In the background you can see the fabby card that she enclosed; my photos don't do the ATCs themselves justice, but here's a closer look to try to show you some of the detail:

(Look closely enough and you can see Rinda herself on the right there!)

(I just love the sentiment on the right hand side there, don't you?!)

(I think the left-hand one is my favourite, I love the pic, the colour is so cheerful, and the crackle effect is fab! But again, the sentiment of the one on the right hand is great lol... Influenced by my attitude towards housework, so Rinda tells me!)

I'm currently reorganising my craft supplies, which may take some time, but once that's done I'll choose somewhere to put these on display :-)

Next up, not actually a prize but it made me feel like I'd won something! Deb happened to mention fortune cookies on her blog, and I commented that I'd never actually had one. Do you know what she did? She contacted me to ask for my address so she could send me some!! Wasn't that just such a sweet thing to do? :-) And when my parcel arrived, it was so cool:

6 fortune cookies; some chopsticks; a lovely note on paper decorated with a little paper banner (which I'll be referring to in a future post - you'll see why!); some gorgeous oriental papers; and an intriguing little gift-wrapped package - did you see it? Brown paper and red wool with a little heart? Here's what was inside:

Aren't those crocheted flowers just darling?! I plan to turn them into an accessory that I can wear as a brooch or handbag charm or maybe a necklace (too many ideas, that's my problem lol!) Oh, and I must tell you, there was a cat hair on one of the flowers :-) Regular visitors to Deb's blog will all now be saying 'Well, yes, of course there was!'

And the fortune cookies?

I was kind and generous enough to share them with The Family, and they were enjoyed by all. Here are our fortunes:

The Boy - 'Enjoy the lighter things in life, deeper joys will follow.'
The Girl - 'You will soon embark on a business venture.'
The Me - 'You have a yearning for perfection.'
The Doctor - 'Over-indulgence clogs body and mind.'

I liked that last one, but The Doctor wasn't too impressed... ;-)

Thank you Deb, your kind thought put such a smile on my face - the cookies were great, I've already talked about my plans for the flowers, and I've made use of some of that gorgeous paper already! x

I must also tell you that Deb has just opened an Etsy store - do check it out, it has some lovely items (those chalk blocks.... I want those chalk blocks!!)

And I'm still not done..... Yes, this is still only Part 1!

Last week I won a rather different prize.

It made me laugh, which is why I want to share it with you - plus I want to gloat, obviously! ;-)

It was.....

Wait for it.....

Some hot pants.

Now, what image comes to your mind when I say that?

Here's what they actually are:

Bear in mind that in the UK, pants are underwear rather than trousers.... These particular hot pants are handwarmers in the shape of knickers!! I'd just like to point out that I did know that before I entered the competition. I can't quite recall right now why I wanted to try to win them though!!

Part 2 of Winning Ways will follow soon.....

OMG those hot pants are soooo COOL!!!

OOooo, I used to make fortune cookies, I'll have to find the recipe out, always fun to put your own funny fortunes in for when having guests over for a meal.

Wow, you have been lucky! I think I like Rinda's 'I'm Neat' ATC the best, as it made me laugh out loud. Can't believe you've not had fortune cookies before ~ the nut allergy, maybe? I still have 2'fortunes' from when DH and I were newly a couple: "The best times of your life have not yet been lived" and "You will soon meet the person you admire" ~ true on both counts!

How lovely. The writing paper is gorgeous - I yearn to copy it - and the wrapping so effective. DD's imminent birthday perhaps.

It's such a nice feeling when you win something....even when you're not sure what you'll do with it....I too got a 'winning' parcel today....a big bag of wool....I'm sure I'll think of something to knit!!

Love the hot pants. Back in the 1970's in the good old U.S.of A. "hot pants" used to mean very short shorts (you know - the kind where the bottom part of your butt cheek hangs out). I always laugh when I hear (read) the term "knickers" - it makes me think of old-fashioned undies - the kind that went down to your knees and had ruffles and lace at the bottom. Is it just me?

Gosh Deb is a talented lady!
You are a lucky lady!
How do those 'undies' fit the hands? Demonstration please ;-)

Thanks so much for blogging about my ATC's! You make them look so good, and I'm glad you enjoy them! Mostly, it was a treat as I sit here bored in my sick bed to come across your post!

Yours is so appropriate, you're a proper perfectionist!!!
