On February 4th I visited the most lovely and wonderful Clair, and she kindly let me make use of her sewing machine again. Yes, I know I've got one myself now, but as The Doctor is paying for part of it as my Valentine's gift I don't officially own it till the 14th, so I'm not using it till then! But, I had this idea for his Valentine's card which involved machine stitching, and Clair helped with equipment, experience and expertise :-) The above is the work in progress - I did the stitching at Clair's and finished the card at home - but I'll share the completed card in due course.

As is now a tradition, we lunched on bacon butties followed by cake. I took along some homemade gingerbread - proper gingerbread, the cake kind, not the biscuit kind - wrapped in greaseproof paper, a la Famous Five. It was a bit yummy :-)

This recipe is going to be made for sure - I love all things ginger! Now, are you George or Anne?

I'm impressed with the card - I made and used the writing paper idea yesterday, using a green/rust colour scheme - because it was there. Two grumbles, your gingerbread didn't link for me to your recipe (though I naturally went and read it) and the labels claimed your Doctor as THE Doctor!

I'm nearly going to get my sewing machine out!

That card is looking good..please post the finished product! I could do with some gingerbread..I'm just back from the dentists and something soft and squishy would be very nice :)

Amy - George, for sure :-) Anne was too drippy and wussy for me!

Elizabeth - thanks for pointing out the 'missing link' lol - I've linked it up now :-) And also, my The Doctor *is* THE Doctor! ;-)

Sian - my heartfelt sympathy x And look out for the finished card on Sunday!

I love Famous Five gingerbread. Sometimes I cheat and have shop-bought Jamaica ginger cake instead but it's not the same. I must bake some ready for my viewing of your completed card.

The card is looking good, I look forward to seeing it complete on Sunday!
I've never made gingerbread, might have to give this a go as it looks delicious and moist - just the way I like it!
