Why is it that sometimes when I change the colour of the overlay, some of it stays black??? :-(

Edited to add: Hooray!! Thanks everyone for your helpful suggestions, I have now found a way to change the entire overlay layer to white :-)

Anyway, this intriguing shot is of a model lung that The Boy made at a science club he's been going to at a local secondary school :-) He is having such a great time! They've built towers from spaghetti, investigated woodlouse habitats, etc, etc. He just loves science so this club is perfect for him.

And as part of my lunch I had these yummy, sweet and juicy cherries :-)

On the overlay - it could be the circles are a separate layer and need to be changed separately. Or it could be that you need to change your setting on whether to select "contiguous" or not... just some thoughts on that. The cherries look yummy.

I have that problem with overlays too sometimes. Often it seems to be that part of it is a different shade of black than the rest so I have to select that area specifically & then recolor again. The science club sounds really interesting

You were lucky your cherries were nice and sweet, I bought some last week and was so looking forward to them but they were dry and tasteless, I didn't bother buying any more this week :(

Science club looks and sounds fantastic - I might investigate that as an idea for my boy as well.
I'd go with Stacy and Cheri's advice on the overlay - sometimes you need to individually select areas.

I couldn't imagine what the photo was until you explained it. The photo of the cherries is terrific!

Big thanks to all who have given me ideas on how I might solve the overlay problem :-) When I get the chance I'll go back to the ones that didn't quite work and try to edit them - I'm really grateful for your suggestions and help x
