29 of 365

On 29th January a friend came round for coffee :-)

And that evening, I tried out another recipe from the jar - Beef and Guinness Stew. By the way, I did one last week too - it was Moroccan Stuffed Plaice - but I didn't like it so much... So that won't appear on my recipe blog. This stew was great though! I had mine with mashed potato; The Doctor had a pastry lid with his, and his potatoes were boiled. I think I've mentioned before that we have different tastes?! We did at least both have cabbage....

Mmm, it has to be good if it had Guinness in it. We had a steak pie last night..big favourite in our house.

I find a pastry lid is the making of any pie, especially for men. It makes them feel manly and appreciated.

That looks scrummy...apart from the celery, which I would have had to pick out!!! I would also have had a hard time resisting a pastry topping but mash & cabbage...perfect!! Thanks for whetting my tastebuds!

Looks yummy! As we sat down for dinner last night I thought about taking a picture and posting it - especially for my UK friends. We had chicken and cheese quesadillas and refried beans with avacado slices - probably not so common for you. I'm off to google "pastry lid"...

This looks like the kind of thing that is popular in this house too! And Guiness is full of iron so it's obviously very good for you too. Given a choice, my husband would go for the pastry option. And possibly a glass of Guiness to drink with it too!

Teetotal though I may be I'll be buying those ingredients next time I'm out. It looks most enticing.
