As well as the filing cabinet we also needed a new bookcase, chest of drawers, and a few other bits and pieces. So on January 27th I went to our local(ish) Ikea.
Being a member of Ikea Family, I got a free cup of coffee there:
I love going to Ikea but don't go too often because I always end up spending more than I intend. Which is your "local"? Croydon is our nearest - about an hour from home. I do need to go again sometime soon but haven't sorted out when!
Funny, the IKEA near my house looks exactly like yours! We didn't have an IKEA in Arizona until a few years ago, and as luck would have it, they built it about 5 miles from my house (about a 15 minute drive through town). I love that store, but my sister HATES it. She says it's too overwhelming.
To answer a couple of queries: Ikea Family is the loyalty card scheme which enables Ikea to spy on my purchases and analyse me as a customer, but I let them do it because in return I get discounts and free coffee (and yes, it is strong coffee! But there's hot water available if you prefer it weaker); Rhona, sorry but I'd prefer not to say exactly which Ikea I use, but it's further north than London - and it's not in Canada!! :-)
OH will do anything to avoid IKEA....even suggesting a trip to Bluewater instead the last time I mentioned that particular 4 letter word....luckily for him we live many miles from one.
I love Ikea!! & I'm a family member too!! We used to frequent the Thurrock & Wembley branches, but our 'local' is now Milton Keynes...my favourite bit is our last stop off in 'Bargain Corner' for an 'even better than that' moment!!! & I love strong coffee too!!
oh I am so jealous. We don't have Ikea here in NZ and it is just so so wrong. How could they deprive us of the wonders of Ikea, it's just not fair boo hoo :).
Ha! Your photo of your Ikea looks a lot like the one I had on my LSNED pages! I did a blue & yellow page in celebration of a trip to buy stuff for J's new bedroom.
Ikea coffee is great... the Swedes are good at choosing and blending coffees.
...is what I speak. It describes what I actually say (nonsense, mostly) and how I say it (ie my accent, which is a mixture of all sorts - a bit of North of England, a bit of Irish, a bit of South West England, a lot of just me!) The word comes from my name, Mel, and the fact that I'm one-quarter Welsh. But there's not actually any Welsh in my accent. Go figure...

I didn't know there was such a thing as an 'Ikea Family' .... just how often do you drop by your localish Swedish family?
I've never bought a single thing from that store! That coffee looks awfully strong ...
I love Ikea, but the closest one is nearly three hours away--in Canada! Love your shot of it, too.

Ah, Ikea..it's one of our most favourite places in the whole world :). Sad, but true.
ah Ikea, land of the giant rat maze ;p

How are you party of the "IKEA family"?
