Fashion Forward: A shop window

A very quick FF this week! And a shop window came to my rescue when I didn't have time to photograph the 'fashion' I'd originally intended to share...

Through the reflections you can just about see the Country Kitchen theme - now, my kitchen looks nothing like this, and I'm not sure how much I'd like it to, but I do enjoy looking in at this particular shop window whenever I pass it. See the rustic gingham and hessian combo? The delicate pastel-coloured yet big and chunky mugs? The Cath Kidston-esque letter ornaments? The stitching detail on the 'Welcome' cushion? Which is your favourite bit? (Or do you hate the whole thing? That's OK too!)

I'm still grabbed by words as decor and there are 4 in the photo

Hmmm, I like the spotty water jug, the water jug in cream in the bottom left and the overall colour theme .... I have a thing for water jugs by the way :-)

I'm partial to dark red gingham ribbon and stitched outlines. My "country kitchen" aspirations were limited to new bowls at BHS when they had a 10% off weekend before Christmas! Oh, and a hessian and gingham heart (and button) ornament from the Bits and Bobs stall at the local monthly Farmers Market, which I realise is still hanging from the kitchen window.

Actually...I love it....and would love my kitchen to be like this. Love the words....but really love everything about 'country chic'...and can happily spend hours in these type of shops.

I love browsing round shops like this. I like the plain cream jug..I love all-white and cream interiors even though I could never achieve one in real life

I love well decorated shop windows. I collect pitchers so there are several I would rush in to see.

I love the "welcome" cushion -- love the look of the red fabric and thread against the light muslin. I'd love to stitch something like that for my family room!!!

overall affect is great and I love the words/letters best. Could that be something I could do myself.... possibly but not just now!

When we first bought our home (22 years ago) ALL of my decorating was country themed and any of this would have gone well with the look. I guess I've really outgrown that because now I prefer the clean lines and simplicity of Pottery Barn style (not that I can afford much of it) - but that is the emerging minimalist in me coming to the surface.

I'm torn! You see I love this kind of stuff in other people's kitchens,it looks cosy and homely and cute and it's great. But in my own kitchen it's very contemporary. Messy, but modern. So much as I love all the Cath Kidson kind of stuff there just isn't a place for it in my home. I think I would buy the words. Even though I have no shelf on which to put them!

I guess I'm in the "not so much" camp. Makes me think of my mother's generation, and I want to be younger and hipper than that (even if I'm about the same age my mom was when I was a teenagerr!)

I love the row of white china at the top - the jugs and mugs with a little red heart. I also really like the big, white enamelled pitcher jug at the bottom left corner... not sure what I'd put in it - it may be too big for the window-sill, so maybe not flowers. I'll have the china ones then!

I forgot to add that I really like the candelsticks down the bottom:-)

I think it all depends on your kitchen. I wouldn't like this style for my current kitchen, but if I had a little, country cottage I would be all over it!

Thanks for something a little different x

I think I really must have those little mugs and small pitcher with the hearts on them. I don't have hearts on anything in my apartment, but those sweet little ceramics have sucked me right in. NEED. I NEED them.
