Not very nice, is it? One of the unpleasant results of the snowy and icy weather was that our bins didn't get emptied for a month. We were advised to leave them out anyway in the hope that the bin lorries would get round at least some of the backlog, but they didn't get to us! I didn't expect to take photos like this as part of my project but it's certainly a moment I would otherwise forget! (The good news is that the following day was our usual collection date, and the bin men did take all the extra black bags too. We still have to wait till the next grey bin collection before all our recycling gets collected though....)

On that day, I had tuna salad for lunch:

Mixed salad leaves, tuna, olives, and the simplest 'dressing' in the world - a drizzle of Ligurian olive oil and a splash of white wine vinegar :-)

We were lucky, our collections were as normal throughout the bad weather. However, we don't have wheelie bins, which is annoying and a nusiance.
Nice looking lunch, mine always seems to be hit and miss!

It was pot luck with our bin collections too! Apparently they were using the lorries for gritting...

We had the same problem but, fortunately, our bins (both landfill and recycling) plus all the extra rubbish and recycling was taken away on Thursday. They took the landfill in the morning and then came back and took the recycling in the afternoon. Amazing how good it feels to be able to go and put rubbish/recycling in the wheelie bins again!

Snow brings all sorts of unexpected problems. doesn't it? It's good to record the little things like this!

luckily didn't have any problems here either, but that might be because our collection day was not during the worst of the snow. but I have heard so many people complaining about not getting their rubbish picked up and even in areas where it was not that bad where there is no reason it wasn't picked up. a lot of councils are not prepared for snow, and this year should show them that.

It's strange for me to see your trash bins overflowing. Since I don't live in a snowy location this never happens to us. So, even though it's not something you would normally take a picture of, your international blog followers do find it interesting. :o)

The tuna salad look delicious. We had all our snow right before and after the holidays so for the 2 weeks that produce the most trash all year we had no trash collection. It was ugly by the time they did come around to collect it.

I know the snow is unusual for you, but almost nothing stops garbage collection here. Snow is just a part of winter life and the poor garbage collectors are out in it all winter.

Once in a great while, I get inspired to make myself a lovely lunch. This looks great.

Ooh, yukky rubbish piles! Makes you think though - we throw out so much stuff and we are so lucky to have it collected regularly most of the time!
Ours was delayed a couple of times, but they did pretty well. I think we had one week where they couldn't come at all, then they came twice in three days.
The tuna salad looks so nice - I could just munch some now!

I don't think all the bins and rubbish in the photo are all yours are they?? Great talking oint about rubbish collection. Ours is still a bit hit and miss but we only have fortnightly rubbish collections! (weekly for recycling and food waste)
