Day 23: Christmas lights

We have a tradition, which we began a couple of years ago, that just before Christmas we'll go for a little family walk around the area admiring all the lights people have put up outside their houses. We've come to learn which roads will give the best displays, where we'll see the most tasteful and where the most.... tacky? The Children love being out after dark, staying up a bit later than usual and having hot chocolate when we get home.

This year we had our Christmas lights walk on 23rd December. We enjoyed the added element of danger aka the treacherously icy pavements! And we saw some beautiful lights :-)

The cardstock is the reverse side of yesterday's page; I added Me & My Big Ideas alpha stickers and some chipboard letters which I'd covered in Icicle Stickles (to remind me of the sparkly lights and the icy conditions!) - three little gemstones ditto, and an Elle's Studio number.

By the way, I'm making good use of autoposting over these few days so I can spend lots of time with my family. I plan to catch up on visiting all your blogs soon, please don't think I've forgotten you!

We used to do that too, but with ulterior motives. We used to hide all the children's presents up in the loft and one of us would go on the Christmas Eve light mission in order that the parent left at home would go up in the loft and bring them all down and hide them for the last few hours in a locked spare bedroom!

Merry Christmas! Tracy and I did a short drive this year to look at lights. That was always a Christmas Eve tradition when the kids were younger. We used it as one way to help us all stay awake until the 11:00 church service!

I like this tradition, we did this when we were kids with Mum & Dad. I haven't done it in years, I will have to start it again I think. Lovely layout.

I bet you saw some hideous sights as well!! We have one of those around the corner ... but, I suppose I should remember that beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

Fun tradition and great pages you have done here. :o)

(I've been using the auto-post feature as well -- something I learned from Shimelle's class!)

A very pretty layout - love the sparkly heading. The Lights Walk idea is fun. Maybe we might do that next year too. Some people in our village do put up lovely light displays - we see plenty in our own street - some are a bit o.t.t. though.. One local family have "NOEL" in 3ft-high letters, which they put on top of their garage roof and light up. It has been there every year and gets more tatty each time. This year the letters look rather drunk and I haven't seen the lights on yet... maybe they won't make it next year!
