It's the TV's fault!

A quick little post to share a quick little card I made last night while half-watching the X-Factor. Something Completely Different is changing the rules a bit in honour of the fast approaching Christmas season, and this month we will mostly be making Christmas cards :-) The theme for this week's is The Holly and the Ivy, and the colour scheme is green, red and gold. I had a sort of vision of the card I wanted to make but then I accidentally put the TV on to find the X-Factor was on (I'm still trying to pretend I don't watch it, you see...) so instead I kept things very simple so I could craft in front of the TV without accidentally cutting through something important or singeing the carpet with my heat gun (neither of which I have ever done, obviously.... ahem!)

So here it is; PaperArtsy stamps from Xmas Plate 1 and 3, stamped onto red cardstock, then gold-embossed, trimmed, mounted onto a red base card with foam pads, and a scrap of green organza ribbon knotted through the corner of the square tile. And obviously, if it hadn't been for the X-Factor, my card would have been intricate, detailed and stunning - but I rather like it nonetheless, and I know exactly who I shall give it to :-)

This is the first Christmas card I've made this year.... I'm a tad behind!! Do you make yours? How far on with the process are you? Go on, make me feel even less organised!! ;-)

those cards are BEAUTIFUL!! and that is my favorite christmas color scheme: forest green, burgundy and gold, to be exact

girl, i don't have that kind of time to make christmas cards 'cuz i'm usually busy making the gifts!!! until i can get a better-paying job CLOSE TO HOME, that's the way it will continue, though i can say i have a lovely collection of 'holiday' cards that i try to send out or use with the gifts =-)

Great card. You are more organised than me Mel, I had planned to make them this year and I still haven't made a single one!

Will you hate me if I say that mine are all done? I made about 70. I love the embossing on yours. . . sometimes I feel embossing impaired. LOL!

I love this one Mel .... you know for me the simpler the better! I think that the red and gold is very classy - they are my favourite Christmas colours. The embossing just adds such a decadent and luxurious feel, I'm sure the recipient will love it :)

Lovely. I have about half of mine done, most of them for challenges so they are all different. Now I'm starting to make mulitples. Just finished six, will post them in a bit.

Thanks again for your directions, I updated my signature and have the link system figured out!

Beautiful card. I have not made any cards and probably will use up the boxes of the store bought one I have this year. (I know not very creative)

That's lovely. I not only don't *make* cards, I haven't even bothered to *send* cards in two or three years. That's awful, I know. I do make baklava and buckeyes, so I think people forgive me the card. I hope!
