Day 1 of Learn Something New Every Day, and another giveaway!

As we're working a day behind with this project, here's my page for yesterday:
As I hoped, I did manage to get my printer up and running - yay!! So I photographed it printing off the class materials so far, then I printed the photo itself too! I'm so impressed, it really is professional quality. I dread to think how much it would cost in photo paper and ink if I did all my photos this way, so I plan to still use the online printing services for bulk printing and use mine for enlargements, small print runs, occasional digi pages, or shots that I just can't wait for!

Anyway, yesterday's page. It's on the back of my title page so the cardstock was crumpled and re-smoothed ('cos I was stupid enough to stick most of my pages back-to-back BEFORE adding the photos and embellishments...) but it didn't matter because that suited the 'shabby' look of the cardstock anyway. I stamped the title (studio g stamps) in VersaMark and clear-embossed, then brushed over a little white acrylic paint. I then used a baby wipe to gently dab the paint away from the lettering so the colour of the cardstock shows through. I painted a Papermania chipboard arrow green, then stamped, embossed and painted as before. I sanded the edges of the photo (to match the distressed look of the page, and to help it to stand out better) and stamped the date in StazOn Opaque Cotton White, using a cute little date stamp I picked up from a pound store somewhere. Finally, I painted two photo turns in green then white, and stuck the whole lot together!

So far, so good - I'm still keeping up lol! Wonder what I'll learn today?

(One thing I've learnt already is that there's a giveaway running today at Craft Fairy's blog - go check it out, but be quick!!)
